23.01.2022 For this weeks #CommunityDarling on Kerrie & Dolly, I touched base with people living with HIV, & the organisations that provide them with support, to find out how covid and lockdown has affected members of the communities. Tuesday 1st December is World AIDS Day, and this years theme is 'Now More Than Ever'. As it says on Living Positive Victoria's post :... Now more than ever we must acknowledge that people living with HIV are not forgotten. This year's events shine a light on the efforts made to prevent HIV, remove the barriers to testing and treatment, and access to services without stigma. 13.01.2022 What a journey. We’ve had our home attacked, given death threats, physically assaulted, spat on, verbally abused and a tribute to our dear friend destroyed all ...centred in hatefulness & homophobia. We’ve been through the court system, without actually getting justice and had to live with the mark of hate on our home for several years. Fortunately the response from our neighbourhood was overwhelmingly supportive and kind and galvanised a resilient & supportive community to be more caring, kinder, softer and considerate. Today we smile, hug and replace the tears of grief with tears of joy. We have space to honour our gayngel George Michael in this most glorious way. Next month Paul’s musical response to this journey will be performed by our logical family of singers and community choir for Sydney Festival. Dear George was right when he sang.
