25.01.2022 With Wellington Shire Council Elections just around the corner now is the time when we can make a difference together. I'm asking for your vote in this election so we can work to achieve our fullest potential as communities of the Wellington Shire and for a better quality of life for everyone. VOTE 1 DEANNA GUNNING Candidate for the Wellington Shire Central Ward

25.01.2022 This is supposed to be farmland in Longford, but often looks more like what some locals dub 'Lake Longford' where the two rivers and the Longwaterhole all meet. It is often underwater and takes a long time to dissipate. Perhaps it should be made into a more permanent water catchment area. What do others think?

23.01.2022 How to vote cards were printed last week in Sale at Office Choice (thank you to Louise and the team) and will be going out to the community. I also want to take the opportunity to say a big THANKYOU to my team of volunteers who have made my campaign so much easier for me because of your help and assistance - I could not be doing what I am without YOU. A big virtual hug to each one of you.

21.01.2022 Looking forward to seeing our new Tafe finally built in Sale.

20.01.2022 Mandatory Training is done, and next week on the 24th I have the Stand For Council Training to do, which I am also looking forward to. I want to learn and to become the best councillor I can be so I represent our community well.

20.01.2022 Covid19... I am so pleased to be living in an area where so many people are being thoughtful and kind to others. Most days I am seeing and hearing about little random acts of kindness or thoughtfulness by some towards others...well done everyone!!! This is what community is all about. Making a difference, together. Which is one of the many reasons I have made my campaign slogan exactly that..' Making a Difference', together.' Let's keep up the great work to show the true community spirit.

19.01.2022 With the campaign underway and nominations coming up very soon, we have been busy preparing and talking to lots of people to further understand what they consider the issues and needs of the community are that need to be brought to the attention of our Council and its Councillors. There are certainly a lot of varied responses, but most, if not all of them have made some valid points and have touched on some of the issues close to my heart - one of which is homelessness. Homel...essness is a large issue in the Central Ward, and one that a considerable part of our community are not really aware of. Contrary to what some believe, it is not just older people - the ages vary as more and more people struggle with mental health issues, depression and anxiety, loss of employment, and struggling to pay high rent, food, and utility costs. Everyone needs a place to call home. I would love to see what we can do about this issue to make a difference, together! See more

18.01.2022 I believe these special street charge schemes are indeed harsh and I think people are already being squeezed hard enough! I'd love an opportunity to advocate and support the abolishment of this scheme, so vote 1 Deanna Gunning in the Wellington Shire Council Elections for the Central Ward.

12.01.2022 One of my Sale Community writing classes. So much fun sharing our stories

12.01.2022 Enjoyed some delicious hot chips for a late and hurried lunch today with my husband. Support LOCAL businesses.

10.01.2022 Let's help support our local businesses in this difficult time by buying local.

09.01.2022 Why I want to run for Councillor? I am absolutely passionate about the communities I am part of -so much so that I am doing all I can to serve, assist, and protect those communities however I can. My husband and I moved here over twenty years ago with the RAAF, and we loved it so much that we decided to retire from the RAAF and stay. I am also passionate about preserving our heritage for future generations too, which is why I wrote the local history book, 'Glimpses of Longf...ord.' Too many stories and historical detail were being lost, so rather than just sitting back and saying "someone should do something" I stepped up to the plate and got it done. Quite a number of those I interviewed for that book are no longer with us, so all those stories, legacy, and history would have otherwise been lost. I want to be an advocate and represent this amazing community we live in - young, older, and anywhere in between - no matter the colour of our skin, where we are from, or our social standing in life. I have never been one who sits at home and says, "someone should do something," or to put in my oar from the sidelines. But rather, I roll up my sleeves and ask "what can I do to help."

05.01.2022 For My vision for the Wellington Shire

01.01.2022 A family dinner to celebrate a special birthday. Family is very important to me, and we believe in making the most of every opportunity to get together and to celebrate each other and the good things we see happening in and around each other's lives.
