Once again, we will be offering an online version of our very successful primary school program - Imagination Club - which can accommodate students (ages 9-12) with or without any formal diagnosis. For full details and/or to submit an Expression of Interest for any of the groups we offer, please see our website: www.icannetwork.com.au/online-group-mentoring/ Please note that we have recently moved to a new online onboarding system, so any participant wishing to be considered for the January 2020 intake should complete a new Expression of Interest form. Young people not receiving a spot for the intake in January will automatically be placed on the waitlist for the next available cycle. Additional questions should be directed to [email protected]

13.01.2022 Handwriting letter formation app A local teacher has produced a lovely, motivating app to teach letter formation, using road themed language. I really like that it uses Queensland font in printing and cursive and has the option to practise writing with or without lines. Children earn points to be able to decorate their rider and motorbike, upgrade their motorbikes and ultimately create their own fun park track. The app can be used for letters, numbers, words and you can even add your childs spelling list. The app is called Easy Street to Handwriting and is $9.99 on the App Store for the parent version.

02.01.2022 Dear Families, Re: Services at Kids Can! OT during the Coronavirus period As you are aware, services at Kids Can! OT are conducted from a family home. Under usual circumstances, we are lucky enough to have over 40 visitors to our home for therapy each week! In our household, we have an asthmatic child and an adult recovering from major surgery. In consultation with my family, I have decided that clinic visits to my family home will need to be temporarily discontinued from ...Wednesday 18th March 2020, to make home as safe as possible for my family. I plan to reopen at the start of Term 2, on Monday 20/4/2020- contingent on the state of the pandemic at that time and advice from the Australian Government. School, kindergarten, daycare and home visits will continue to be provided, unless closures are recommended by the government. Please inform us if your child or a family member has a fever, cough or shortness of breath, and we will cancel the session without any cancellation fee. All equipment will be cleaned between clients and we will have hand sanitiser available. It is with a heavy heart that I think about the disruption this will cause for clients. I am therefore open to considering alternative ways of providing services. If you feel that a 5 week break from OT sessions will adversely affect your child, please speak with your treating therapist (Melinda or myself) and we will work out ways to continue to support you and your child. Options may include: home programs Skype or Facetime sessions phone check-ins to discuss any emerging issues visits to your home (travel fees will apply) social stories and visual supports advice for managing routines if you need to self isolate we will be able to provide reports during this period These services will be billed under your usual arrangements. Of course, some people may just enjoy having a break with one less thing to do! Thankyou for your understanding. Please phone, text or email me if you have any queries or concerns, or would like to arrange ongoing OT support during this period. Phone: 0437 717 346 Email: [email protected] With best wishes, Debbie Swanwick Occupational Therapist/Owner Kids Can! OT
