11.01.2022 Dog groomers aren't at risk. I groom a limited number of dogs each day. Since March I have been practicing strict no contact drop off and pickup. ... Clip and collect.

11.01.2022 As many of you will know, I have supported the government in making difficult but important evidence-based decisions, formulated on expert medical advice. If a ...few more weeks in stage 4 is necessary to stop the spread of coronavirus - then that's what needs to be done. Just because I support the governments plan in principle, doesnt mean there arent areas that need tweaking, or where I disagree in detail. When these restrictions first came into place, I wrote to the government with concern that dog grooming was deemed non-essential. Now that the government has extended restrictions, I have contacted them again today to say dog grooming must be reclassified for welfare. This new length of time will be far too long for many animals. For many breeds of dogs, and even cats, grooming is vital for animal welfare reasons. Dogs that go without regular grooming can end up with painful matting, skin irritation and overgrown nails, making it difficult to walk. Just like you can leave your home to go to the vet you should be able to leave your home to go to the groomer no matter where in Victoria you live. With more Victorians taking on a companion animal than ever before, it is vital that the government ensures they can safely get the care they deserve.

11.01.2022 While humans have about five million olfactory receptors in their noses, dogs are said to have around 300 million. ... A dog's nose is often 1,000 times or more sensitive than our human noses at detecting an odor. This allows dogs to detect some odors at air concentrations of one part per billion or lower.

11.01.2022 Dear Clients. The Premier has announced that the Stage 4 Restrictions is extended to 2 weeks to 27th September. I'll ring Business Victoria on Monday to DOUBLE check if dog groomers are still effected.
