04.01.2022 So, The Dee and Johnno Show has a little news for y’all that we’ve been sitting with for a week or so. One of the incredible women in the picture on the hammock... just had a dream come true. Dee Mason has landed the full time position of cohost for Joy949’s new drive show, Joy Drive with Dee and Warren. First and foremost, I am ecstatically happy that someone so talented and deserving has landed in a position that she so rightly deserves. She is and always was, the right person for the job. Dee is, in my opinion, one of Joy’s most impressive, skilled, hardworking and revered broadcasters. Also, and perhaps more importantly, she’s a kind, thoughtful and compassionate queer woman who always saw that in a full-time broadcasting position, she would be given the opportunity and responsibility to further the vital message and mission of encouraging inclusivity and diversity at the station and in our listening community. She’s also a fucking cack, so there’s that. This of course means though, that The Dee and Johnno Show will be calling it quits. We’re both feeling pretty sad, but we know that’s what needs to happen in order for Dee to fulfill her commitments around this incredible appointment. I’m personally so fiercely proud of what we have achieved in a relatively short period. For me, 2020 has been made so much more bearable because of the friendship and the radio we made. I’m so glad that I, perhaps completely arrogantly, slid into her DM’s back in February telling her why she should be my on-air partner. She promptly told me she had several other gays courting her, that she was listening and that I should pitch away. and I knew right then that we’d sizzle. We have worked our butts off. She has taught me so much. We have been the happiest and the saddest. We have won and boy, have we lost. We have confided and disagreed and bitched and giggled and listened with open ears and hearts to each other. I truly believe we’ve made the other better and we’ve pushed to find and focus on a groove and chemistry that is special and rare and golden. We did the work. The best thing though, is that through all of this 2020 shittery, we’ve become the best of mates. I trust her, I respect her and well,... I want her dog can I have your dog Dee? That will make this breakup ok, I know it. Please!? #themisspattismithandjohnnoshow. It has a ring to it, am I right?!... I digress...This is truly one of those ‘the business of show business’ moments and so I get it but .....oooooofty dooooofty. Bit sad in my heart coz we were onto something really spesh. I knew and know how lucky I am and was... I hope those around you at Drive do too. I’ll miss ya terribly. Mate, I wish you well. Thanks for it all and for the love of gay jesus, don’t be shit. Warren is one lucky man, so are the listeners and so is JOY949. You did it mate... and good for you. I don’t care what the haters say, you’ll always be my favourite baritone.
