03.01.2022 Training Transformation. Over the last few years, the Defence Force School of Music has evolved its courses to include a blend of distance and residential learning that allows both full time and part time members to attend the same course. Having flexibility when, where and how fast you learn whilst still being in your home location makes this method of learning very attractive to our musicians. In order to produce and enhance our online content, the Defence Force School of M...usic has transformed one of its rehearsal rooms into a multimedia studio. The purpose of this studio is to create professional video content that will inspire and engage our trainees together with the ability to stream live lessons to trainees all over Australia - the virtual classroom. The original room was named after Lieutenant Commander George Hooker; the first Director of Music of the Royal Australian Navy Band between 1954 and 1970. At a ceremony on Monday 18 November 2019 this studio was re-dedicated as the "George Hooker Multimedia Studio" by Armys Director General Training and Doctrine, Brigadier Benjamin James, AM, DSM.
