13.01.2022 June 27th is PTSD Awareness Day. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) affects a persons’ physical and mental health after they have experienced a traumatic eve...nt. This could include vivid nightmares and flashbacks; avoiding things that bring back memories of what happened; and/or feeling easily startled, angry and depressed. Depending on the nature of their service and deployment, 5-20% of Veterans are likely to develop post-traumatic stress - and it can severely impact day to day life and relationships with family and friends. Soldier On Australia and Open Arms - Veterans & Families Counselling are just a few veterans’ charities that provide support and services for returned servicemen and women who are suffering from mental health issues like PTSD. Legacy works with thousands of veterans’ families whose partner or parent have given their health for the service of our nation, helping provide financial, social and emotional support. If you, or someone you know, needs help, please contact: Open Arms - Veterans & Families Counselling: 1800 011 046 Beyond Blue: 1300 224 636 Lifeline: 13 11 14. If life is in danger, call 000.
