25.01.2022 The shed is open this Thursday. Come down from 1000 and lend a hand. We are prepping the welding bays for our new welding kit and will be setting the shop of for next years activities. Catch you there!

23.01.2022 We will be temporarily suspending operations again until we bring our covid safe plan up to speed with new regulations. In order to provide the safest possible environment to members, we will be registering as a Covid Safe business with the NSW Government. Unfortunately, until we can implement our new safety plan, the Shed must remain closed for the next couple of weeks.... Anyone who can assist us with some Work Health Safety or administrational support would be greatly appreciated.

21.01.2022 Big thanks to The Riverina Comedy Club for an awesome night at the Wagga Boat Club! The Veteran Health Week Comedy Night was a huge success. These comedians were on fire! Funniest night weve had in ages. We managed to raise over $1,700 for safety equipment, tools and materials for the shed! Special thanks to Like Mind Wagga for making this happen, thanks to DVA for the Veterans Health Week grant, thanks to our generous sponsors for some wonderful prizes and a big thank you... to everyone who came and enjoyed the night. Were looking forward to planning the next one soon!

Qualifications: First Aid Barista Food Safety RSA Please Email expressions of interest to [email protected] Units of competency: (HLTAID003) Provide first aid (SITHFAB005) Prepare and serve espresso coffee (SITXFSA001) Use hygienic practices for food safety (SITHFAB002) Provide responsible service of alcohol This skill set will meet multiple skill demands for the Defence Shed when hosting or participating within community and internal events. All delivery will be at the Wagga Wagga Campus as we have approved Risk Assessments for facilities. Due to the size of the classroom we will only be able to manage 10 participants to ensure we abide by COVID regulations. Delivery will be approximately 34 hours in total. Timings TBC - early October - Likely to run during business hours.

11.01.2022 16 Defence Shed members have begun fabricating their own wood fired pizza ovens at the Wagga TAFE. Joined by both current and ex ADF personnel and ex NSW Police, members will continue to learn and develop metal fabrication skills over the coming weeks and be invited to further develop those skills within Defence Shed Wagga on completion of the course. Starting Monday 14th of September, 3 time slots are currently available. 1 - Mondays and Thursdays 1000 1400 2 - Mondays and Thursdays 1600 2000 ... 3 - Saturdays 1000 1700 Other timings may be available on request, depending on member availability. Welding experience is helpful but not necessary, participants will have guidance from experienced members. Anyone interested please in box us with your preferred time slot.

09.01.2022 LIMITED SPOTS REMAINING! We have received confirmation and funding to commence our 2019 welding course. We have limited positions left on the course, it is available to current and ex ADF members. It is a good introduction to the civilian course environment for members undergoing transition from Defence. Participants will learn basic welding skills and produce a personalised pizza oven that they can take home. ... Registration will take place on Monday the 21st of October and the course will commence Friday the 25th of October. 06.01.2022 Work Party This Thursday ---------------------------------- Thank you for your help last week in helping us begin the set up process, we have made some great progress. This Thursday will be much of the same with the construction of welding bays, tool boards and setting the storage area. (We now have cooling in the small room!) Members will have the opportunity to make themselves a pot belly heater to take home whilst learning practical metal working skills. Welding experience is not necessary. Members will be required to pass basic safety training on all tools and equipment prior to the commencement of any workshop activities. ...
