25.01.2022 Mrs Claus, AKA Laura Mellon, came early to Definitiv. The countdown to Christmas is definitely a lot more fun this year!

25.01.2022 Missed our webinar on the JobKeeper payment? There is no need to worry! You can now watch the webinar in full, any time you like. We cant take all the credit though. A big thank you to Carla Vinciullo from our friends at Mason Ledger for teaming up with us on this webinar. Your insight and knowledge into JobKeeper and the Fair Work updates was incredible. #payroll #jobkeeper https://youtu.be/-J7Dx7ng4eA

24.01.2022 Thank you Westpac for inviting us, along with BPAY, to speak at the Trends and Challenges for The Way We Do Business event last week. With the much talked about annualised salary changes now in effect, we hope employers found the information helpful for their business.

23.01.2022 Although we may not be able to get together as usual to show our appreciation and gratitude, ANZAC day is still as important as ever. Today, we take the time to reflect and remember those brave friends, family and fellow Australians and New Zealanders who fought for our freedom. Lest we forget!

22.01.2022 Due to the incredible demand, we have put on a second session for our JobKeeper payment webinar. If you cant make this Friday, you can now book a place in our Monday session. Our webinar will be covering off everything you need to know about the JobKeeper payment. 22.01.2022 Two of our team members accidentally came into work in the same outfit last week. So who wore it best?

22.01.2022 At Definitiv, we believe employee self-service should be more than just timesheets and leave applications. We aim to provide employees with an app that not only improves the way they manage their payroll and HR requirements but also offers value behavioural insights. One way we have achieved this is through our new My Hours report, available on our app. https://www.definitiv.com.au/definitiv/my-hours-report/

21.01.2022 Have operations Australia wide? We have collated all the payroll tax relief available by state and territory to make it easier for you to navigate. #payroll #HR https://www.definitiv.com.au/tax/payroll-tax-relief/

21.01.2022 Have you had a moment to think what your business will look like after the COVID-19 pandemic has passed? There can be, in such a climate, the temptation to act first and strategise second. Carla Vinciullo, from Mason Ledger, cautions businesses against this approach and encourage decision-makers to lead from the front when it comes to their people. https://www.definitiv.com.au//covid-19-workplace-claims-h/

20.01.2022 There have been a significant number of changes to modern awards as well as other updates by the Fair Work Commission (FWC) during these past few months, including extensions to temporary award schedules. Many of the changes have been in response to COVID to manage the impact it has on businesses, employees and the workplace. We have outlined some of the major award updates you need to be aware of. https://www.definitiv.com.au//recent-fair-work-and-modern/

20.01.2022 Love (or should we say sugar) is in the air at our office today...Happy Valentines Day everyone! #love #valentinesday2020

20.01.2022 Introducing our two newest team members; Maxwell and Charlie. They are super friendly, like taking long walks on the beach and happy to pose for the camera. Welcome onboard gentlemen! We look forward to showing you the ropes.

19.01.2022 If like our company, your workforce, or part thereof, is working from home, it can be difficult to stay connected. To help our customers keep their workforce informed and to make it easier for team members to get in touch, we have made a couple of updates to our platform. https://www.definitiv.com.au//new-features-announcements-/

19.01.2022 We want to thank Vince Connelly MP for sharing his story and the stories of other veterans at last month's Working Spirit event. While veterans leave the ADF highly skilled and experienced, many struggle to find employment in the civilian world. Organisations such as Working Spirit are vital to help connect veterans with civilian employers and to roles that meet their transferrable skills. Like Vince said at the event, "Hiring a veteran is frankly good for business" and with two veterans employed in our business, we are living proof that this could not be more true. If you are looking to hire new talent, make sure you reach out to Karyn at Working Spirit first https://www.workingspirit.org.au/contact-us/

17.01.2022 Imagine coming into work and receiving a surprise delivery of delicious treats? If there is anything to keep us motivated throughout the day, it is going to be free and tasty cakes. Thank you so much to our wonderful client; Great Temptations for the amazing goods, we were all pleasantly surprised and we can promise you, none went to waste.

17.01.2022 Our physical office may be closed but its business as usual for our team while we work from home. We even have a few additional support workers . 16.01.2022 On top of the recent Fair Work Act changes, Fair Work has also made temporary changes to a number of modern awards. The biggest changes have been made to the hospitality, restaurant and clerks awards. However, 99 modern awards have also been updated to include provisions on unpaid pandemic leave and annual leave at half pay. https://www.definitiv.com.au//temporary-award-updates-cov/

16.01.2022 In honour of having any excuse to eat a cupcake, our team decided to celebrate the end of EOFY and the ATOs finalisation deadline (for businesses with 20 or more employees). Congratulations to our clients, and all other Australian businesses out there with 20 or more employees, that have submitted their EOFY finalisation date by todays deadline. Its been a long few weeks but it is officially over, its time to drop the and take a breather (or eat a cupcake like our team). Thanks to Cakes by Brooke for these beautiful Definitiv creations.

16.01.2022 If you are a bit of a perfectionist, it may be upsetting to know that there is not exactly 52 weeks in a year. In fact, there are 52 weeks and one day (two if its a leap year). Therefore, more often than not, if you pay on a weekly or fortnightly basis, you will have 52 and 26 pay cycles in a financial year, respectively. However, on occasion, you may have a financial year that has 53 weekly or 27 fortnightly pay cycles instead. When this scenario happens there may be a shortfall in the PAYG withheld from your employees wages over the year. Read our payroll tip #26 to find out how to best manage these rare scenarios. https://www.definitiv.com.au//upward-variations-and-pay-c/

16.01.2022 The JobKeeper payment initiative is finally here. Join us this Friday at 11.00am (AWST) for our free webinar as we unravel the JobKeeper payment in detail. Numbers are limited so you will need to be quick. #payroll #employmentlaw #jobkeeper https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_yTsIIdkdRYqnmDesg5UonQ

15.01.2022 Is it time we normalise posing for impromptu personal photoshoots in the workplace? Our littlest team member; Max seems to think so. Look at him doing his thing. It just doesn't get any cuter than this.

14.01.2022 COVID and the resulting social distancing guidelines have at some point led to a majority of businesses implementing some form of working from home arrangement. Some businesses are even looking at flexible or working from home arrangements in the long-term post COVID restrictions. As such, maintaining productivity when employees are working from home has likely been on the minds of many business owners and leaders for most of this year. Mathew Paine from HR Expert Australia is here to provide you with some tips to help keep morale and productivity high when you have a team are working from home. https://www.definitiv.com.au//maintain-productivity-worki/

12.01.2022 The way we celebrate Easter this year may be different but our plans to eat way too much chocolate has remained the same. We do hope you are able to relax and share moments with friends and family this long weekend in a safe manner - whether it be over the phone or video chat. Happy Easter everyone!

11.01.2022 Its called productive ideation, not sleeping, please get it right. Charlie is just taking one for the team and thinking up the big ideas for Definitiv. Not all heroes wear capes.

11.01.2022 Today, the Fair Work Commission announced the national minimum wage increase for FY 2020/21. Normally, the minimum age increases by 1.75% from the first full pay period on or after 1 July of each year. However, with the impact of COVID-19, the Fair Work Commission has decided to stagger the release of the increase. Modern awards will be updated (in groups) over three dates; Group 1: 1 July 2020... Group 2: 1 November 2020 Group 3: 1 February 2021 If you have employees covered by modern awards, find out which group(s) these awards fall into in the Fair Work Commissions statement. #fairwork #minimumwage #payroll https://www.fwc.gov.au//2019-20/decisions/2020fwcfb3501.pdf

11.01.2022 On termination, an employee may be paid a lump sum payment referred to as an employment termination payment (ETP). Our payroll tip #25 covers the employment termination payment (ETP) in detail, including the treatment of tax. https://www.definitiv.com.au//employer-termination-paymen/

11.01.2022 Last week, we had a post EOFY team catch up at The Apple Daily Bar & Eating House. We want to thank all our team members for the hard work and long hours they have in these past few months. Its been a busy (and different) FY and we could not have wished for a better team. Also congratulations to our Payroll Team Lead, Brittany-Jane McKenna, for winning our "who the meme is it?" challenge at our catch up. She clearly knows us all too well.

11.01.2022 Do you have salary-based employees? If so, your business may be impacted by the new annualised salary clauses set to be added to a number of common awards on 1 March 2020. Employment law expert, Carla Vinciullo, from our partners at Murfett Legal is here to fill you in on these new clauses and the heightened employer obligations. #HR #payroll https://www.definitiv.com.au/f/annualised-salaries-changes/

10.01.2022 Have you missed paying or have underpaid an employee their super guarantee contributions? Well, there is some potential relief available. The Federal Government introduced their super guarantee amnesty on 6 March. The amnesty is designed to encourage employers to voluntarily disclose and self-correct their historical non-compliance. The ATO has also updated its website to provide some guidance and support for businesses impacted by COVID-19. https://www.definitiv.com.au/super/super-guarantee-amnesty/

09.01.2022 Our fearless leader, Roy Mellon, will be leaving us for a few days in October (and, yes, we will be hosting a party while he is away) to go on a special road trip to help raise funds for Variety - the Childrens Charity WA. On his travels, hell be stopping off at local schools throughout the Perth and Peel region to deliver grants and equipment for education, health and mobility. You too can get involved and donate vital funds to help support our WA kids who are sick, disadvantaged or living with a disability. 100% of your donation will go directly to Variety - the Childrens Charity WA. https://fundraise.varietywa.org.au/fundraise//rubyroadtrip

06.01.2022 It's the last day of the working week and we wanted to leave you with something positive. We want to congratulate Karyn @ Working Spirit for being a recipient of the Westpac Foundation Community Grant as well as Westpac's WA Local Hero Organisation. Working Spirit is an amazing NFP organisation that helps transitioning veterans find rewarding employment in the civilian world. Definitiv is Karyn's and Work Spirit's #1 supporter. ... This photo is of Karyn, CEO and Founder of Working Spirit and Phil from Westpac. They are both standing in front of one of the billboards around Perth promoting and sharing Working Spirit's story (generously paid for by Westpac). Fun Fact: This photo was also taken by our Implementation and Support Officer and Navy veteran; Nick Kelleher who we recruited through Working Spirit.

05.01.2022 11.11.2020 - Today, we take the time to reflect and remember those brave friends, family members and fellow Australians and New Zealanders who fought for our freedom and the sacrifices that they made. Lest we forget.

04.01.2022 If you are a payroll officer, you would have experienced this issue more than once...An employee has either switched their super fund without letting the payroll team know or has closed their account prior to the final contributions for the old fund being processed/paid. Now you are left with added work and a whole lot of frustration. Our tip #24 is here to help you prevent this issue from occurring in the future. https://www.definitiv.com.au//prevent-returned-super-fund/

04.01.2022 When it comes to leave, especially long service leave, the value you want to account for is not always straightforward. For example, what oncosts will be paid out with the entitlements; and after how many years of service do you want to start accounting for LSL on the balance sheet? We have made updates to our platform to help you automate the calculation of different variables to provide a more accurate representation of your companys leave and accrual provisions. https://www.definitiv.com.au/d/accounting-leave-provisions/

04.01.2022 What a way to finish off the year! For our End of Year party for 2020; we decided to do a "team bonding" activity with some crafty and competitive go-karting. It was an exciting day that showed we definitely have a broad range (in the most diplomatic term possible) of drivers here at Definitiv. By the end; there were bruises, smudged make-up, flat hair and some sore body parts but it was well worth it. A huge congratulations to Robert Barion for getting the top score of the day with a lap time of 24.198 seconds! Congratulations to our other three team members, Tyson Stolarski, who came second, as well as Brandon Kitt and Jasmine Aven for making top 12 of the day!

04.01.2022 We cannot believe that our wonderful partner Beam Connect turns two this month. We want to wish you guys a #super and safe birthday. Make sure you have a drink or two on us to celebrate! #birthday
