17.01.2022 Just to clear things up about the wrong information circulating re border closures, the following is the official update to Border Community and permits. "If you are in one of the border community postcodes such as Delegate, please note that as you are a NSW RESIDENT YOU CAN TRAVEL ANYWHERE IN NSW WITHOUT A PERMIT. The public health order discourages you from travelling for non-essential purposes. You do not need a permit to go to work in NSW if you are a NSW resident so please do NOT apply for one for this purpose. Official update from Service NSW from midnight Tuesday 21st July, a clearly defined border zone will restrict entry to NSW for Victorians for extremely limited services.

14.01.2022 For those who may not have heard, the Delegate Show has been cancelled for this year. The Committee felt that the uncertainty around Covid and the rules pertaining to self distancing etc. would have made the task too difficult. This particularly applies to the rules concerning the serving of food. However we do have some good news to impart. Mark Sunday the 28th February on your calendar for a Monaro Women Community Connect lunch and afternoon tea at the School of Arts. ... Guest speaker will be Melissa McKendrick who will chat about keeping bees and designing a native and sustainable garden on Monaro. There will be two workshops, one with Karen Cash showing how to weave with natural plant material, and Geraldine Dyer will teach the technique to make your own beeswax wrap and a gift bag. It is necessary to book by phoning 1300345345 and to indicate which craft is your preference. RSVP 21st February as places are limited. Guests must be over 18 years. Time 12 noon till 4pm. Cost: Free. Posters are in shop windows. See more

09.01.2022 Sorry, but I do not class volunteering as a job - my idea of a job is something you get paid for. If all the volunteers were paid the country would be more broke than it is now.

08.01.2022 The Rural Transaction Centre will open between the hours of 11 am to 3 pm on the following days to receive payments for Rates on behalf of the Snowy Monaro Regional Council on the following dates - 18th May, 20th May, 22nd May, 25th May, 27th May and 29th May. No plans have been made at this stage to open the Centre regularly as a number of our volunteers are in the "vulnerable" group, so it is possible that it may open with reduced hours when and if it is considered safe to do so.

07.01.2022 This is a photo of police camped near the border at Delegate River in 1936. The border was closed at the time to Victorian children because of a major outbreak of Poliomyelitis in Victoria. Apparently it has erroneously been reported that it was taken during the Spanish Flu but as far as we know such a photo does not exist. If anyone has one we would love to see it.

06.01.2022 We had a good attendance at our History Project meeting on Wednesday, and progressing well. We have received some family photos, which show the big families which were the norm early last century and before. If you have a story to tell about your family and can include a photo of your ancestors we would love to include it. Our project will cover Delegate surrounding areas in NSW and the settlements over the border.

05.01.2022 The Delegate RTC will only be open on Mondays from 10am to 12 noon and closed all other days due to the Coronavirus. thank you for your support and stay healthy.

04.01.2022 Council has notified that a drilling team will commence test bore drilling in Bombala and Delegate shortly, which they say is required as part of the funding agreement for the Bombala and Delegate water supply upgrades. We understood from Deputy Premier John Barilarlo that the funding he gave was for an upgrade to our treatment plant, NOT FOR A BORE. Why do we need bore water, when we have a great river on our doorstep. ...................... Why do we need a ,bore when we ha...ve a great riiv..............
