21.01.2022 COVID TIMES During what been called ‘an epidemiological insurgency,’ with its isolating lockdowns (in Melbourne, we’re still in one of the world’s most severe lockdowns), global revolution, political upheaval and climate emergency, as well as the personal and internal experiences that arise from time to time, I have found it necessary to step back, to slow down and to allow the rough waves to move through my being. This has meant an absence from social media, from teaching un...til starting online recently - and from most everything else. Far easier said than done. And certainly involving much stormy weather before the sight of any promised rainbows. But I have found this necessary to enable me to maintain a healthy connection with myself and with the lived experiences of others at this challenging time. It has been said that ‘rest allows the space to dream and invent,’ and for me, in response to what has been happening around us, as I've sensed within to ascertain the changes I wish to make within myself and in my life moving forward, my mantra has become the words of Bayo Akomolafe: ‘The times are urgent - Let us slow down.’ And now - despite lockdown - Spring has sprung here and, while I still consider the times urgent, and continue to hearken to the call to slow down, Stillness and Peace Yoga Nidra is returning to Facebook, aiming to be more attuned to the need for rest - both yours and mine
