22.01.2022 The team is getting in the Christmas spirit

20.01.2022 We are grateful to all our patients for your understanding as our ability to deliver your usual dental care changes every day during these most unprecedented times. We are acting on the recommendations given by the Australian Dental Association Queensland advising that Level 3 restrictions be observed. This means that from today, Thursday 26th of March, we will only be providing urgent and emergency treatment for people who do not meet the epidemiological or clinical criteria... of COVID19. If you are currently self-isolated, please contact us by phone for advice. The current recommendation is to avoid use wherever possible of aerosol producing drills and sprays, so some treatment may be temporary and aimed at pain relief only. Where possible, we will provide definitive treatment to ensure you do not need to return with further problems during the crisis. Existing patient appointments which do not meet the treatment criteria will be contacted to have their appointments postponed, and we will endeavour to discuss any concerns you have at this time. Procedures considered an emergency or urgent include: Severe pain in the mouth or jaws Large painless cavities or infections that are likely to cause a severe infection in the next few months if left untreated Localized infection and swelling of the mouth, neck or face Serious facial or tooth trauma Uncontrolled bleeding If you have an appointment, please view our most current advice sheet on our website in advance. Upon arrival at the practice reception, you will be required to: 1. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser and rub your hands for 20 seconds 2. A pre-procedural mouth-rinse will be required before you are examined We realise that limiting our service will inconvenience and worry many of our patients, but we ask for and appreciate your understanding as we try and do our part to reduce the spread of this virus. We will regularly update advice on our website and also produce resources to address some of the concerns many of you will have over the delays in receiving your dental treatments and preventative services. Finally we want you to know will be here to support you in the best way that we can throughout this crisis, even if it is only a phone call for advice. Some form of service will remain in place throughout this time. The Team at Dental Centre Maroochydore www.dentalcentremaroochydore.com.au/patient-information/

17.01.2022 Beyond limiting the sugar you eat, we recommend drinking more tap water, avoid snacking between meals, instead sticking to three meals a day and concentrating on the good stuff like vegetables and dairy products. Of course, before you make any major dietary changes, first check with a healthcare professional.

10.01.2022 Dental centre has recently jumped on board with Terracycle we will now be able to offer a drop off recycling system to our patients for their oral care products next time you visit our clinic ask one of our friendly receptionists how it works

07.01.2022 Reduction of dental procedures We have been advised by the Australian dental association to reduce non-urgent aerosol generating procedures. If you are in pain you can still be assessed and treated.... If you are worried that you may have a dental problem that could lead to severe pain or infection in the next few months if left untreated, you can still be assessed and potentially treated. We will arrange a phone consultation for any patients needing advice. We appreciate your understanding during the most difficult time.

07.01.2022 You might think that a little extra sugar here and there isn’t such a big deal, but the odds are that you are taking in far more than you realise. Figures show that the average Australian is consuming 14 teaspoons of sugar a day, a whole lot more than the maximum six teaspoons a day recommended by the World Health Organisation for increased health benefits such as decreasing the risk of tooth decay, which is having a profoundly negative effect on Australia’s dental health as revealed by Australia’s Oral Health Tracker (ada.org.au/oralhealthtracker).

07.01.2022 Message from Ellke our hygienist "Introducing Anders Jax Packham. Our little bundle of joy, our hearts are so full of love Born 17/11/20, 8.30am, 7.1 pound. A very long labor, but he finally made his entrance.... We are all doing well " See more

02.01.2022 It’s #dentalhealthweek and we want to share some helpful tips with you throughout the week. Dental Health Week, is the Australian Dental Association’s major annual oral health promotion event. Its aim is to educate Australians about the importance of maintaining good oral health by promoting these key messages: Brush twice a day with a toothpaste that contains fluoride.... Clean in between teeth at least once a day with floss or an interdental brush. Eat a healthy, balanced diet and limit sugar intake. Regularly visit the dentist for check-ups and preventive treatment. This year, these important messages will be reinforced via the tagline How’s Your Oral Health Tracking?, which draws off the ADA Oral Health Tracker report cards, a world-first initiative that documents and tracks Australia’s oral health status. Here are some scary facts for you 65% of Australians haven’t seen a dentist in the last two years. 50% of Australians brush their teeth only once-a-day. Nearly 40% never floss or clean between their teeth. 73% of young people (14-18 years) are consuming too much sugar. All of which means that getting the message out there about good oral health is more important than ever. For more information on this year’s #dentalhealthweek please visit www.dentalhealthweek.com.au
