18.01.2022 Motorists’ safety on Australian roads is a key focus of our Bridges Renewal Program and Heavy Vehicle Safety and Productivity Program. More than 350 successful projects have been announced in the latest funding round to upgrade and replace bridges that have been damaged or are deteriorating, while improving heavy vehicle infrastructure right across Australia. Councils affected by bushfires and drought will also benefit with bridge replacements and livestock transport projects.

07.01.2022 To save lives on Australian roads we want to introduce Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) systems for new light vehicles. AEB systems on light vehicles detects likely forward in-lane collisions, provides the driver with a warning and if there is no response, AEB will apply the brakes automatically.
