21.01.2022 Here we have a typical example of inaccurate gauges. Before starting any troubleshooting, it’s a wise move to calibrate your gauges. Here we have the correct procedure. The top gauge has been checked for accuracy and the white one is being checked in this test.

20.01.2022 Have you ever done a simple flow test at idle? 1.Disconnect the heater hoses and extend over the front of the vehicle and into a large bucket. 2.Prime and start engine. 3. Water pump should suck from the bucket and pump back into the bucket. 4. Keeping the bucket full, shift the exit hose into a second bucket for 60 seconds.... 5. Measure, it should be in the vicinity of 12 litres or 2.25 gallons per minute. See more

20.01.2022 Nissan TD42 automotive water pump recently upgraded to improve coolant circulation and pressure capability. This vehicle suffered severe cavitation and mild overheating with standard water pump and has now been improved with hand made/upgraded water pump so it can perform better under extreme conditions required for a January 2019 Australian coast to coast road trip ( vehicle currently in Wagga in 40 degree temps and performing well ) Have a look at the before and after pump pictures and the damage the standard pump caused. Note there is no corrosion, only erosion which is totally due to the press metal standard pump impeller.

18.01.2022 Perils of prolonged localised mild overheating. The chemicals and minerals are baked onto the inside of the water jacket in the head creating a ceramic like coating that prevents heat transfer. Clearly the substandard water pump on this engine was not flowing enough prevent this damage from occurring even though the idiot gauge on the dash was not alerting the driver to what was going on.

By custom making them I am able to get bigger impellers with better designs into many different applications including the TD42 and 1HZ Careful attention to detail allows me to cut an 86mm backing disc and shoehorn it into pumps where the standard impeller was only 77mm and the pirates only manage to do 82mm ...... Just remember a good water pump will have a higher pressure and flow capability to create circulation with minimal cavitation and is for moving your water not washing it .

06.01.2022 Been busy lately hand making impellers to upgrade the performance of waterpumps. The first thing that I do when upgrading a pump is to check for core shift ( make sure the bearing is in the middle of the pumping chamber) The second thing is to check that the recess in the waterpump actually aligns with the recess in the timing cover... The third thing is to check the depth of the casting because I have found there is up to 3.2mm difference between the shallow castings and the deep castings which allows more room to fit a deeper impeller. This is all done before I even start making the impeller!
