24.01.2022 Even though Devonport Food & Wine has finished for another year, you still have plenty of opportunities to get your gourmet on with some of our amazing local producers.

22.01.2022 DISH OF THE DAY! Jelly Slice: Base:... Packet of Arrowroot Biscs finely crushed 180 gr of melted butter Middle layer: 395 gr of condensed milk 1 tablespoon gelatine cup boiling water Top layer: 1 pkt strawberry jelly crystals 250 gr boiling water Method: Mix melted butter to finely crushed biscs and press into a lined slice tray (making sure you leave plenty of baking paper hanging over the sides). Press down with the back of a spoon and place in the fridge to chill (an hour). Add gelatine to boiling water and stir until dissolved. Once this has cooled sufficiently, placed the condensed milk into a mixing bowl, add the dissolved gelatine mixture and whisk until the mixture is smooth and combined. Remove the set biscuit base from the fridge and pour the condensed milk layer over it. Place back in the fridge until set (an hour approximately). Once set, mix jelly crystals with boiling water and stir. Allow the jelly to cool until it has reached room temperature. Carefully pour jelly over the slice and place back in fridge to set completely approx. 6 hours, overnight is best. Remove the slice from tray and cut into squares enjoy! 08.01.2022 Members of Devonport's International Cafe are excited to be sharing their favourite recipes as part of Devonport Food & Wine 2020. A huge thank you to Shelly Sharma and her Mum for sharing this Bread Pakora recipe. If you'd like to share your favourite recipe as part of Devoport Food and Wine in October, send us a photo of the dish (you can be in it too, if you like) and the recipe to our Facebook page or to [email protected]... Bread Pakora Ingredients: 1 Cup Chick Pea Flour 4 Slices White Bread 1/2 tsp Salt 1/4 tsp Cumin Seeds 1/4 tsp Garam Masala Oil for deep frying 1/2 Cup Water Method 1. Mix all ingredients except bread and oil to a pancake batter consistency. 2. Heat oil on high flame. While the oil heats up, cut the bread slices into half in triangle shape. 3. Once oil is hot, dip the bread piece in the batter and drop it carefully in hot oil. 4. Fry until it turns golden brown from both sides. 5. Serve with tomato sauce. #devonportfoodandwine #dishoftheday #internationalcafedevonport

03.01.2022 Congratulations to both teams - Devonport High School and St Brendan-Shaw College. It was a close race, but Devonport High came out in fornt with their exeptional seasoning! Students, staff and their support crews were terrific! It was wonderful to have support from our event sponsors Peter & Una Seafoods, Harvest Moon - Forth Farm, Costa Berries and prize sponsors North West Trophy House and Reading Cinemas Devonport. Thanks to our MC Lee Dixon (Sea FM Tasmania). Thanks also to our fantastic judges - Kate Hambleton (Tasmanian Hospitality Association), Luke Clarke (Peter & Una Seafoods) and last minute stand-in, "barbeque expert" Gerard Enniss - Councillor Devonport City.
