22.01.2022 MESMERISING FOOTAGE OF THOUSANDS OF WEST PAPUANS RALLYING IN THE HIGHLANDS ON 22 FEBRUARY 2021 West Papuans streaming into camera-view during a recent rally to support the ULMWP Transitional Government and demonstrate against any more Special Autonomy including the break up of Papua into yet another province. Indonesia is desperate for West Papuans to sign onto more Special Autonomy (Special Autonomy 2001 expires this year). West Papuans, including their churches, 101 organis...ations and two (Indonesian) Provincial Parliaments have formally rejected Special Autonomy and advised Jakarta to institute dialogue with the United Liberation Movement for West Papua. The Indonesian Government's response has been escalate its military presence, from the 'normal' 9000 soldiers to 60,000 (many of them highly trained commandos) and create a third province. https://www.youtube.com/watch See more

16.01.2022 Jacob Rumbiak speaks on West Papua's new green state at our Open Day on Sunday 21 March. In December 2020 the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) upgraded its status from 'movement' to 'state' with a transitional government, and also announced the new state would be a 'green state', arguably the first in the world. What is a 'green state'? And what does a West Papua transitional government mean for West Papuans and their international army of supporters? Spokesperson Jacob Rumbiak explains. 15.01.2022 WHY WOULD INDONESIA WANT THREE PROVINCES IN WEST PAPUA? Plus more rally video from Mepago tribe 1 March 2021. For the first 45 years of the Indonesian occupation, West Papua was one province. In 2005 President Yudhoyono created a second province on the pretext that he wanted to 'streamline' development. In fact, the former military-general wanted the extra regencies that a second province enables, because under Indonesian law it is each regency (not each province) that is aut...omatically assigned 1 Land Army battalion, 1 Police company, 1 BRIMOB company, 1 Airforce company, and 1 Naval company (in coastal areas). Yudhoyono's partition in 2005 increased the number of regencies from 14 to 41, thus tripling the number of military personnel and hardware in West Papua. Currently, the two 2-star generals that head the military in West Papua and Papua are not based in Jakarta, but in Makassar (Kallimantan) and Ambon (Maluku) off the West Papuan coast. Indonesian-military watchers will recall Indonesia used the same strategy in 1961-62 to force UN member-states to sign the New York Agreement. Video of more West Papuans opposing the continuation of Special Autonomy and the creation of another province. West Papuans do not understand why their extraordinary non-violent struggle attracts so little media support, and especially why the Australian Government appears to be so little concerned with the massing of Indonesian troops and hardware in Makassar and Ambon. There has been little international response to the torture and killing of three young West Papuans (Janius Bagau, Justinus Bagau, Soni Bagau) in a HEALTH CENTRE on 15 February 2021; or to the fact that 600 women and children are hiding in a Catholic compound; or to the fact that the fifty thousand displaced in the highlands cannot grow their crops or go to school. This is in contrast to responses to images of the military violence in Myanmar, which the United States is describing as 'appalling' and which the UN Human Rights Organisation urged the Security Council to watch before its next meeting next Friday ... and end the military's stranglehold over democracy'. The ULMWP Transitional Government wants Indonesia to allow international organisations to assist the West Papuan civilians. Red Cross and Medecin san Frontier have been banned since 2009. https://www.facebook.com/tigihame.hame.1/videos/432948481368578 See more

11.01.2022 Raising the Morning Star is criminalised for indigenous West Papuans- so today we, Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand use our freedom to raise it in solidarity... for the right of West Papuans to self determination. We call on our Government to finally stand for decolonisation, cease import of indigenous timber from West Papau, since we know pillage of that resource underpins the continued occupation of that region, and to use all our international platforms as a nation to condemn the abhorrent rights abuses by Indonesian military

John Algate's Jessie's House of Needles is the inspiring story of Jessie Williamson AO, a remarkable Australian missionary nurse who worked in the highlands of West Papua for thirty-five years, between 1966 and 2001, in the Dani village of Karubaba and the Kimyal village of Korupun in the cool highlands, and in Taiyeve midst the hot swampy lands of the northern lowlands. The book is based on Jessie's letters to her family and supporters, who were a key source of the money needed to buy both regular and emergency supplies in an area where there was little to no government health services. However it also incorporate other people’s recollections and reflections, and John's careful construct is a captivating and inspiring read.
