23.01.2022 FOR THOSE POSTING SOON Peak posting season is stressful we all know that. This year is no different, however we have all had to face so many additional challenges we didn’t really think were possible prior to 2020. Many of us have been separated from partners and family and in some cases, some of us have spent too much time with partners and family!... What we do know, is that Defence and those organisations that support Defence are all working hard behind the scenes to move ADF members and their families around the country in the safest way possible. Families are being asked to be extra patient in 2020 after what has seemed to have been an extra-long year to be patient in. We are still living through a pandemic with uncertainty. The priority is the safety of ADF members, families and the broader public. We are also potentially facing another summer of adverse weather conditions, so it is important that members and their families are moved safely and quickly. Everyone’s situation is different - where you are coming from and where you are going to. Do you have pets, do you have special needs? What do you need to move? There are also many rules and regulations set by states and territories that need to be followed. Getting to your destination as quickly as possible may mean that you may be directed to fly, this is to minimise your travel time and avoid hotspots that could develop while you travel. Those on the other end of the phone line are also working hard to do their jobs across often very tight time frames. Your first point of call for your individual movement is TOLL. Please contact your TOLL Case Manager or the TOLL Service Centre on 1800 819 167 Defence Community Organisation is holding another webinar tomorrow night (Thursday)... An ADF families webinar: Posting during COVID-19Managing quarantine This will be an opportunity to ask questions about moving. https://www.facebook.com/events/737326123529171 Contact us if you need us to advocate for you. www.dfa.org.au Frequently Asked Questions about posting (recently updated) https://www.defence.gov.au//F/Posting-cycle-20-21-FAQs.pdf #PostingSeason #WorkTogether #BeKind #BePatient #Flexibility #BeGone2020 #COVID19 #LetsDoThis

23.01.2022 At the end of each year, it’s often good practice to go back and reflect on the year that was. So they say How do you do this for a year like 2020? The ADF at the start of the year was called up for Operation Bushfire Assist and many ADF families were directly affected by the devastating bushfires across much of the country. ... A brief reprieve and the ADF moved into Operation COVID-19 Assist as well as the normal deployments that continued on. Many families spent long periods separated from loved ones due to border closures while other families spent long periods at home, not being able to go anywhere. We learnt how to use Zoom, found out that hand sanitiser and toilet paper were valuable commodities. We streamed movies, TV shows and podcasts to take our minds off things. Some of us baked bread. Some of us wore masks. Some of us just managed to survive. At DFA we started the year with a series of webinars for new partners to Defence life. The recordings are still available to watch. https://dfa.org.au/webinars-2/ As a remote workforce DFA were already working from home, but with many of our in-person networking events moved online, we spent a lot more time in the virtual space. DFA delegates advocated for families throughout the year and managed to maintain our high levels of advocacy working entirely online. DFA continued with our ADF Partner Employment work, adding several new employers to the program with more to come in 2021. https://dfa.org.au/pa/defence-partner-supportive-employers/ We highlighted the work of the amazing community centres and volunteers in our community. You can read more in our newsroom. https://dfa.org.au/newsroom/ It’s here, the end of 2020. We made it. Thank you to everyone that contributed to our community this year. We would like to wish the Defence family community a safe and healthy 2021. Happy New Year.

23.01.2022 Welcome Jan :-)

21.01.2022 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: POSTING SEASON 2020-2021 This information is taken from the FAQs produced by Defence for ADF members and their families. We are resharing to highlight some of the questions that are being asked.... This posting season, ADF members are not permitted to take leave during the posting travel dates. They can take leave once posting travel is completed but this needs to be approved. More at https://www.defence.gov.au//F/Posting-cycle-20-21-FAQs.pdf FROM THE FAQS Can I take leave during my relocation transit? No, to ensure the health and safety of ADF families and adherence to State/Territory border controls, the dates allocated for posting travel must be adhered to. Annual leave is not approved during the period of posting travel and posting relocations are from the old point of posting to the new point of posting. Your travel departure date identified in your Move Plan triggers the commencement of posting travel and ceases on arrival at your final destination. Annual leave outside of posting travel is to be approved and managed by the Chain of Command in accordance with existing Defence policy. Can I take annual leave once I arrive in my gaining location while I wait for my service residence/rental property to become available prior to my commencement at my gaining unit? Yes, the departure date identified in your Move Plan triggers the commencement of ‘posting travel’ and ceases on arrival at your final destination. Annual leave outside of ‘posting travel’ is to be approved and managed by the Chain of Command in accordance with Defence policy.

15.01.2022 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQS) FOR POSTING THIS YEAR Why is it taking so long for TOLL to respond to my Application for Relocation (AFR)? Defence requested members submit their AFRs no later than 30 Sep 20. ... The bulk of the ADF has complied with this request. As such TOLL is currently processing approximately 50-60 per cent more AFRs compared to the number of AFRs submitted at the same time last year. These requests are being prioritised by posting date, and therefore it may take some time for TOLL to allocate a Case Manager for those removals occurring later in the posting cycle. From 30 Oct 20 TOLL advised that they have completed AFRs for the Nov period. For members who requested a relocation over the period 1-10 Dec you will be assigned a case manager as a priority within 2 weeks. For members who requested relocation from 11-19 Dec you will be allocated a case manager in less than 5 weeks. For the remainder relocating over the period 20 Dec31 Jan a case manager will be assigned in 5 weeks. The FAQs have recently been updated. https://www.defence.gov.au//F/Posting-cycle-20-21-FAQs.pdf If you need DFA to advocate on your behalf please contact your local delegate. https://dfa.org.au/contact/
