24.01.2022 Meet Billy! - Billy is the second eldest of five children in the Renouf family. He was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in January 2003 at the age of eight years old. - -... Billy accepted the transition very well as he already knew so much about diabetes after his younger brother Charlie was diagnosed 8 months before him. He was also diagnosed with Coeliac disease in May 2003, which means that he cannot have food that contains gluten e.g. wheat, oats, barley, rye & malt. - - This could have felt like one thing after another however in true Billy style he carried on living his very best life full of sport, friends and adventures on the family farm. - - Billy is now a qualified Carpenter and is engaged to his partner of 11 years, Amanda. 12.01.2022 Meet Sam! Sam is Elissa’s eldest son who was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the age of 17. Following on from his 3 brothers and father who had been diagnosed before him, Sam spent most of his life surrounded by everything that comes with living with diabetes so when his time came, he took it in his stride like his other brothers. Sam is now 27 and leads a very active, healthy lifestyle. He works as an electrical and electronic instrumentation technician and on the weeken...ds is usually up to something adventurous, whether it be fishing, kayaking or a day at the beach, he just loves being outdoors! Sam is another example of how having type 1 diabetes and a positive attitude does not stop him from doing anything!

10.01.2022 Meet beautiful Sunita, Elissa's third child and only daughter. . . Sunita was diagnosed with Diabetes in 2019, at the age of 23. At this point in Sunny's life, she had moved out of home and was very much independent and living her best life. Although it was always in the back of our minds whether she would be lucky enough to avoid type 1, this was not the case and she was the 5th of Elissa's five children to be diagnosed. .... . Soon after diagnosis, Sunita was on an insulin pump and with the help of everyone around her and her organised self, she has been able to manage her diabetes really well. . . Just like her brother Charlie, Sunita has since been diagnosed with Addison's disease (autoimmune disease effecting her adrenal glands). . . Sunita is currently working as an Indigenous educational worker and studying early childhood education and care. She is a social butterfly and enjoys spending time with her friends. . . All five children are happy, healthy and don't let their diabetes get in the way of their everyday lives! See more

09.01.2022 Meet Fred! . . Freddie is the youngest of the Renouf family and was the third child to be diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in March 2004 at just two years old. .... . Elissa noticed that Freddie started to have frequent mood changes so she started to keep an eye on his levels. He started showing early but definite signs of Diabetes however Freddie was still producing insulin but it was slowly decreasing. Elissa had to sit back and watch another one of her children slowly developed Type 1 Diabetes. . . Fred accepted his challenge very well as he always looked up to 2 of his brothers who had already been diagnosed. Freddie was then diagnosed with Coeliac Disease in November 2005 which means that he cannot have food that contains gluten e.g. wheat, oats, barley, rye & malt. . . Fred is currently studying IT at university, enjoys spending time with family, mountain bike riding and building a computer or two for his friends. Freddie is another example of how living with Diabetes doesn’t stop him from leading a positive, healthy life. See more

At the age of three years old, he quickly accepted his daily routine of seven finger prick tests and up to five insulin injections (plus everything that goes with having diabetes) - - As well as having diabetes, Charlie was also diagnosed with Addison’s disease (autoimmune disease effecting his adrenal glands) He manages his Diabetes via an Insulin Pump and his Addison’s disease with tablet medication. - - Charlie is a qualified electrician and loves to adventure in his spare time!
