25.01.2022 Visitors are welcome on all bowling days; but Saturdays, with their more casual atmosphere (music, meat pies, good drinks) are particularly attractive for visitors some casual bowlers, and some folks who just want to enjoy a drink and the music on the verandah.

23.01.2022 We're not back to normal yet, but we're managing well with the covid-safe measures that we've put into place. We have a fairly rigid covid-safe plan that we've filed with the government, and we're doing a good job sticking to it. We're getting some regular visitors and some barefoot bowlers, as well. Among other things, we're remaining cashless (credit cards and EFT only) and we're playing with two jacks, so that no one has to touch a jack. People are encouraged to handle... the mats only with a lifter. And if people choose to use a scoreboard, then only one person is to touch it. Mats and jacks are sanitized before and after every game. Inside the clubhouse, things are organised to assure social distancing. All in all, I think we're doing about as well as possible in this unpleasant situation. One day, we'll get the all-clear; and then there'll be celebrations at the club -- sausage sizzle and champagne for everyone. One day! In the meantime, we're carrying on -- AND VISITORS ARE WELCOME. 22.01.2022 In mid-March, when we went into lockdown, we decided that when we were able to get back to normal, we'd have a sausage sizzle and champagne for everyone to celebrate. One of our members has been particularly careful, so we decided that he would be the barometer -- when he decided to resume bowling, we'd have the champagne do. Even though we're not out of the woods yet, last week that member came back to bowling. So, we decided that we'd be careful about our covid-safe protocols and go ahead with the sausage sizzle / champagne bowling day. So, last Saturday that's what we did. 21.01.2022 Like all other bowling clubs, our clubhouse is closed. Some of our members are rolling up -- only in twos, and well distanced from any other pair who are also rolling up. Some of us are doing a bit of work around the clubhouse. Registering for the JobKeeper allowance has allowed us to maintain our staff person. We've actually come up with some good stuff for her to do while we're in shutdown. We've been able to accommodate some players from other clubs who have wanted s...ome practice space -- again, only in twos. Our greenkeeper is attending to the greens only twice a week, and he's doing a really good job. If there is any glass-half-full feature here, it's that we're missing the serious racket that's now being caused by the construction work next to the green in front of the clubhouse. Four houses were demolished, and there will be seventeen apartments in their place. The serious banging, I think, is them digging to construct an underground garage. See more

19.01.2022 Summer's coming and the greens are in terrific shape. If you haven't tried us for a bowling outing or just to drop in, c'mon over. We're also planning our end-of-year party for Sunday, December 8. This will be good: music, barbecue, nibbles, and, of course, bowling. And, if you haven't bowled, this would be a good time to have a go.

18.01.2022 We kicked off the Australia Day weekend on Saturday with a sausage sizzle and, of course, lamingtons and watermelon and Anzac biscuits for afternoon tea. For a bit of variety, the afternoon began with a few rounds of bingo before bowling began. Extravagant prizes were on offer for the bingo -- ranging from bowls cloths to spray chalk to a free cup of coffee. Needless to say, the competition to get these beauties was intense. And, like all Saturdays bowls days at Diamond Bay, there was old rock 'n roll for people to enjoy during bowls. We were particularly pleased at having new members turn up to join us for the day.

17.01.2022 We’re thinking of trying to organise monthly events, probably on a Sunday afternoon or evening centering around family and community organised bowling activities and other things, as well: maybe trivia, maybe bingo, maybe board games, maybe ... (?). And, we’re thinking of commissioning someone as the event coordinator to take care of organising these activities. We welcome suggestions about what activities people might be interested in attending whether it’s bowling (wi...th music, sausages, etc.) or other things, like the ones mentioned. Either offer your suggestions here, or send us an email at [email protected]. We would like our neighbours to think of the Club as a community resource, and we’d like to organise activities that the community particularly the local community would be interested in. So, what do you think?

15.01.2022 On the weekend of Aug. 8 and Aug. 9, we're hosting two sections of the Zone 13 Veterans Singles. This event is for bowlers who are at least 70 years old. Beginning at 9:30 on the 8th with 7 matches, with the next 8 matches starting at 1pm, and then again at those times on the 9th, culminating in winners of both sections. There should definitely be some bowls worth watching. C'mon over and have a look. Spectators are VERY welcome! We have implemented a Covid-safe plan, and we believe we’re providing a safe and responsible environment for players and spectators.

08.01.2022 Although Diamond Bay was closed for organised bowls today, in recognition of Rosh Hashana, there was some serious barefoot bowling from a few groups. Most notably was Nathan Nash's bucks party.

08.01.2022 With the easing of some restrictions in NSW, we are now resuming scheduled social games. During the shutdown, there have been people (members and non-members of Diamond Bay) who have had roll-ups; and they've all been very conscientious about physical distancing. Informal roll-ups will continue; but we're now going to resume our normal playing times, as well. We are going to allow only 10 people per green, but the club's facilities will be available. We've instituted a number of procedures to make things as hygienic as we can. For anyone who would like a game (or a roll-up), feel welcome to give us a call (9337-4060) or send us an email ([email protected]).

06.01.2022 We’re doing our best to provide a safe environment for our social bowlers. Bowls NSW and Women’s Bowls NSW have issued this statement: All bowls events be suspended for an indefinite period, effective immediately (from this date)....Continue reading

06.01.2022 As of June 13, restrictions on bowling have been eased further by NSW Health. In particular, * no more than 20 people per green (excluding staff and officials) (this has been raised from 10 people) * social and competition matches are now allowed * social distancing of at least 1.5mtrs remains in place * a regime of hygiene must be in place... * a record of attendees (names and phone numbers) must be kept by the club for at least 4 weeks Separate from this, Bowls NSW and Women's Bowls NSW both recommend that there be no more than 4 people on any rink. At Diamond Bay, * we will continue to have no more than 4 people per rink * we will continue to operate on a cashless basis (credit cards and EFT only) * we have been using 2 jacks per rink, so that no one has to touch the jack. We'll keep that in place. * we have not been using scoreboards. We recommend that players continue not using them -- but if some game wants to use them, only one person should handle the board * we will continue to have hand sanitiser available at the greens and throughout the clubhouse * we will continue to offer afternoon tea in the way that we have been offering it: e.g., paper plates, etc. handled only by the person doing the serving, wearing gloves * we will continue to serve drinks without attendant glassware Bowlers have been really good about operating according to the restrictions from NSW Health; and, as we all know, a lot of progress has been made in avoiding the spread of the virus. We are certainly gaining ground. We have taken the opportunity to do a fair bit of refurbishing of the clubhouse: you'll notice the new paint throughout the main hall, as well as the locker rooms and the toilets. We are looking really spiffy! A fair few people have been staying away. As restrictions continue to ease, we hope to see you back -- and visitors are always welcome. But please don't feel any pressure to get back at it. Resume bowling only when you feel that it is safe for you to do so. The most important thing is that we all stay healthy.

02.01.2022 Lots going on today at Diamond Bay Bowling Club during my visit to handover a $10,000 NSW Government Community Building Partnership Grant to fund their newly in...stalled #SolarEnergypanel system which could halve their energy prices! There were delicious cakes and tea on offer and an intense game of Bridge underway too. Thanks to President Stephen Cohen, Director Tom Cowan and the lovely ladies Eva, Zelda and Elizabeth of the #WomensBowlingClub for always welcoming me. They are lucky to have some of the best bowling greens in Sydney! Matt Kean MP John Sidoti MP
