17.01.2022 I am extremely passionate about the implications the proposed Government changes to the Residential Tenancies Act which will be introduced into parliament this week. These changes will severely hamper the rights of the Landlord who have made a substantial investment in providing accommodation for those who are not in a position to own their own home. Furthermore this could also have a massive impact on housing availability forcing up prices and detrimentally effecting tenants... ability to afford housing, ironically the bases of the legislation is to increase tenant’s right and protection however it could have the biggest negative impact on them. The Real Estate Institute of Victoria (REIV) announced their intention to fight changes to tenancy laws. Our office is also very passionate in objecting to these changes.
