17.01.2022 Ways to Keep Your Heart Healthy and Happy

16.01.2022 ? To help your running shoes last longer (& to help avoid problems of Athletes Foot) damp/wet shoes need to be a...llowed to dry. This will not only help to look after the structure/integrity of the shoe but can also help reduce the growth of bacteria that like to hide out in the warm, damp & dark places within your shoe. Loosen the laces once your shoe is off to remove the inner sole. Its best to allow the inner sole to air dry Avoid placing your shoes on direct heat because this can dry out the leather, glues & materials used within the shoe...causing earlier deterioration of these surfaces & weaken the strength of the adhesives used in its construction. To help dry out the inside of your shoes faster, scrunch in crumpled up newspaper The newspaper will help draw out the moisture. #adelaidepodiatrist #changingfeetchanginglives

14.01.2022 FIGHT, FLIGHT OR FREEZE! . The sympathetic nervous system response when our body perceives stress is amazing! In fact it's life saving. A rush of hormones boost... the body's alertness, heart rate & sends extra blood to the muscles. . This response is meant for short term survival, thus a problem arises when it dominates & our body is constantly bombarded with things that raise our stress response & we begin to live in a state of sympathetic nervous system dominance. . Short term this might look like, sleepless nights, fatigue, heart palpitations, addiction to stimulants, anxiety. . Long term this chronic stress response leads to mood changes, hormone imbalances, thyroid issues, weakened immunity, burn out, even serious disease like cardiovascular & alzheimers. . This month's newsletter is all about STRESS! . If you haven't received a copy send me a DM & I'll hit you up with some very important information to help calm this stress response so the opposite - parasympathetic nervous system response aka, rest & digest, can help you lead a much calmer, healthier & happier life. 12.01.2022 So today I headed back to "the trenches" to help at my old workplace. Pic 1 is me headed there, pic 2 is how I spent most of my day. Here is what I have always... known and want to share especially at the moment... Health Professionals really want to help people They are doing their best to adapt to a tough situation whilst giving the best care that they can Keeping Patients and Staff safe is a big priority Primary care staff are all working around the clock, minds are on the job when at home and are doing the best they can Admin and reception staff provide invaluable support to clinical staff, as "gate keepers" they are doing an AMAZING job as their workload of phone calls, arranging and rearranging things has multiplied as the situation evolves A healthcare job is absolutely a vocation and we are all pulling together to do the best we can whilst ensuring services can continue by minimising risk of exposure What this means is that even though your Dr and Primary Care team maybe moving towards more telehealth and only bringing you in when essential, it DOES NOT mean they dont care. In fact the opposite is true... it means they care about you so much that they are still at work and want to do all they can to stay at work in case you need them. It means be kind to everyone trying to help. It is a time of uncertainty and change for us all. Stay safe and pull together xxx
