18.01.2022 City Toyota A Grade vs Glen Forrest. DCC 7-209 def Glen Forrest 205 Full report to come soon. B Grade vs Swan Valley.... We won the toss and batted, we started well with Blair getting off to a flyer. Unfortunately we lost middle order wickets and were in trouble at 4 for 60. Blair and Immie put their heads down and both scored excellent 50s with a useful contribution by Matty Spinks who help close the innings out to a respectable 182. They then batted and it was virtually a 20/20 with their openers taking to us and getting the score in the 23 over only 4 wickets down. Not disappointed as they are the top side and unfortunately I was missing my two opening bowlers and my first change so it will be a different story next time. D Grade vs Ascot. Won the toss and batted, a solid start once again with 28 and 39 run partnerships first up. But from there we steadily lost wickets. The steady start, and some big hitting after drinks pushed the score to 160 with Mat G scoring 99 off 91 balls, and Andrew the only other batsman to make double figures. Brendan and Bocky opened the bowling, with Brendan again bowling superbly and Bocky taking a wicket in his second over. Ascot then put the pressure on with a 42 run partnership and at 4/80 at drinks a tight game was on. After drinks though the bowlers rotated through and stood up once again with everyone chipping in and Brodie Atkinson getting his first wicket for the club. Ascot were finally bowled out for 122, with Jeremy taking 1, Brendan and Mat taking 2 each, and Bocky 3 in his first outing with the ball this year. Another solid win after being put under pressure. E Grade vs Glen Forrest. DCC 77 def by Glen Forrest 2-84 Full report to come soon. F Grade vs Ferndale. We won the toss elected to bowl, got set 197 on a lightning out field. Some great bowling from Johno taking 3 for 25, Hammer took a couple of early wickets late in the innings. Started well with the bat, Johnno and Ross put on 67 runs, and Johnno went on to make 83 and X man an unbeaten 68 off 55 which got us the 120 we needed in the last 20 overs. Won the game in the 39th over, well done everyone, awesome effort. More details and info at https://mycricket.cricket.com.au/.../rv/clubresults.aspx... 04.01.2022 City Toyota A Grade vs Stirling. DCC 189 def by Stirling 6-215 B Grade vs Caversham. We won the toss and batted. With only 10 players we had to put runs pressure on them. Steady start getting to 1 for 32 before SOD and Henry got out in the one over. Good little innings from Immy and then an excellent partnership between Todd and Nickers got us up to about 100 before we lost quick wickets again. Last wicket stand of 14 was useful from Tony and Syed. 2 early wickets to Nazir wh...o bowled really well gave us hope before they had one guy get 50 and took us out of the game. Gave everyone a bowl and the fielding was really good trying to cover for a man down. They got the runs with plenty of overs and wickets to spare. D Grade vs University. 1 v 2 on the ladder, won the toss and batted. Openers again got a solid start, from there we lost wickets regularly, but batted out the 40 overs for 9/137. Mat G (30) and Ryan with 26 on debut for the club the main contributors. With the ball we were immediately on top getting stuck into their top order and having them 6/36, before two solid partnerships saw them scrape their way to the total. Mat G took 3, and Ryan with 2 wickets and some memorable chat to cap off his first game for the club. Brendan and Cooper also took one each. Definitely the one that got away, and will be looking forward to a rematch at the end of the season. E Grade vs Carlisle. DCC 9-165 def by Carlisle 2-170 F Grade vs Ellenbrook Rangers. Lost the toss for the first time this season and were sent in to bat. Slightly shaky at the start and we were 2 for 20, a 50 run partnership between Haagers snr (65) and Liam (22) steadied the ship. Contributions also from Tim (18) and a quick 26 from Haager's jnr. Shiraz with a quick 22 saw us score 213 for 9. As usual was a steady start with our opening bowlers and once we got through the top 4 we just threw the ball around with 11 guys getting a bowl. Stand out was Siraz who took 2 for 33 and hungover Johnson who took 1 for 12 the highlite had to be Duncan Rogers two awesome catches. Well done boys enjoy the break see you next year..
