25.01.2022 The International Quizzing Association and Quizzing Australia would like to invite high school students aged 14-18 years of age to take part in the 2017 Junior World Quizzing Championships on Saturday, 16th September. The written quiz will consist of 120 questions across eight categories split into two rounds of 60 questions, to be answered in 45 minutes per round. The eight categories are: Culture: Art, Architecture, Philosophy, and Religion Entertainment: TV, Radio, Cla...ssical and Pop Music History: Ancient times through to Current Affairs Lifestyle: Brands, Fashion, Design, Celebrities, Health & Fitness Media: Films, Literature, Theatre, Comics and Newspapers Sciences: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Social Sciences, Zoology Sport & Games: Olympics, Team Sports, Video and other games World: Astronomy, Human and Physical Geography, Travel A player’s score will be the aggregate of their best seven categories. As well as playing for the World title, Quizzing Australia will recognise Australian, state and category champions. A set of sample questions is available here. Australia did not participate in 2016 but the winning score was 77/105. 24.01.2022 This week is a big week! On Monday, the SHLiRP program is running and everyone will attend an information session during line 2. Private consultations will be available throughout Monday and Tuesday. On Tuesday, the SIEC students will take on the teachers in a soccer match for Harmony Day (in the gym and lunchtime). Spectators are welcome.... On Wednesday, breakfast club will happen in the morning as usual. At recess and lunch, we'll make a chalk mural on the wall behind the library for Harmony Day so come and add your own element to the design!!!! Don't forget to bring money on Wednesday because the market day is also running at lunch.

The Canberra Prosperous Mountain Lion Dance organisation is looking for any student volunteers to join their team during February and March this year, for the time surrounding Chinese New Year. There are a wide variety of roles available, from helper through to drummer and lion/dragon performer (which requires a bit of training in the lead up).
