22.01.2022 We were on Wakefield Street today, visiting the new Adelaide Holocaust Museum & Steiner Education Centre ahead of their opening in the next few weeks. We're working on some interesting things for the museum, and we're proud to be contributing to such a deserving space. Keep an eye on their comms to find out when the museum opens.

10.01.2022 It's install day at the new Adelaide Holocaust Museum & Steiner Education Centre. We've been working hard this week, and there's still more to do before the big opening.

06.01.2022 It's been a long time coming for this one! We've launched the new site for The Embroiderers' Guild of South Australia Museum! This site contains over 2,200 embroidered objects and needlework accessories, exhibition history dating back to 1987, and over 37,000 embroidered signatures. Thanks to Arrienne and Iris for working with us so closely. With a collection as vast as this it was great having people so familiar with the subject to guide us through.... embroiderymuseum.org.au

04.01.2022 We were at the The Embroiderers' Guild of South Australia today for some website training, and stuck around afterwards to see their sampler exhibition, Transformation in Tiny Stitches. Check out the photos, and if you want to see more visit their new website at embroiderymuseum.org.au

04.01.2022 Here’s an excuse to celebrate International Rabbit Day today, (4th Saturday in September) with this charming child’s calico apron embroidered with two rabbits f...acing each other, dressed in hats, jackets and mittens. It was made in 1945 by Maureen Holbrook, then a 10 or 11 year old student at Thebarton Primary School. Maureen grew up to become the first curator of The Embroiderers' Guild of South Australia Museum from 1985-2008 and where the apron is now part of the museum’s over 2000 objects and needlework accessories, one of South Australia’s largest collections of embroidered textiles. Based in Mile End, this accredited volunteer-run museum has been closed due to COVID-19, but recently launched its new website. Funded by the History Trust through their MaC program https://history.sa.gov.au/get-involved/mac-program/ and created by Digital Barn, the site features the museum's amazing collection online. It also includes their Embroidered Signatures Project documenting over 150 South Australian cloths bearing in excess of 37,000 names or signatures, which is not only an important part of the state’s social history, but also a boon for family history researchers. The museum, both real and virtual, is a wonderful haven for the crafty community. Why not hop in and explore https://embroiderymuseum.org.au/ - you will discover everything from aprons to wall hangings, from all around the world, and dating from pre 9th century to the present day. But beware, there’s lots to see and learn, you may fall down a few rabbit holes on the way! You can also find them on our Explore History website along with 300 other community museums and history groups. https://explore.history.sa.gov.au//embroiderers-guild-of-s #Internationalrabbitday #OTD #community #museum #embroidery #website #southaustralia #familyhistory
