25.01.2022 Hazard icons across the country have a new consistent look. The new Australian Warning System introduces several changes to the way the community will be notifi...ed about hazards. We're rolling out the first stage of the changes to the Australian Warning System for bushfire in Tassie today. The changes will include the way bushfire warnings are displayed on the TFS website. From today, consistent colours will be used for: Advice (yellow), Watch and Act (orange); and Emergency Warning (red) The icon shapes will also change on maps from diamonds to triangles. While the colours and icons change, the meanings of the levels do not change. The changes are designed to bring consistency to the way warnings are displayed across Australia. Over time more states will use the new colours and icons and they will be used for other hazards like floods and storms. Further changes will occur in Tasmania in 2021, including enhancements to our warning messages. The Australian Warnings System is based on community research and good practice, in terms of what communities recognise and what gets people to take action during an emergency.

21.01.2022 Hi everyone. We have just been called to an incident and have despatched one of our appliances. Rest assured, Santa is still circulating in the remaining appliances!!

17.01.2022 With all the challanges that have been brought to bare on the community during 2020, we are immensely happy to say that our annual community distrubution of sweets by Santa will still go ahead on December 20th. There will be a few small changes to ensure that compliance with COVID19 requirements are met, and we will elaborate on that once our plans are finalised. For our local community, keep an eye on the local community facebook pages, and at the Cafe for this information. See you all on the 20th!!

14.01.2022 Heaters and fire places need their space. Always keep anything flammable at least two metres away from your winter warmer to avoid them catching on fire. Be fire safe this winter.

14.01.2022 A follow up from our post yesterday. Wood heaters : nothing much beats them in the depths of winter for giving out solid home warming heat. We get it, many of us have one too!! But (gotta hate that "but" don't you!), they do post a significant risk when they maintenance has been a bit on the short side! Keep up on the annual checks by qualified trades people. Keep an eye on that flu too, both on the inside for creosote buildup, and on the outside including ceiling/roof passthroughs.

13.01.2022 The message can not be any more clear. If we all do this and maintain our social distancing then we stand a chance at stopping the spread. #stayhomesavelives #tasmania #flattenthecurve #coronavirus #tasmaniafireservice #dilstonfirebrigade

08.01.2022 Amazing job by the Ravenswood Fire Brigade crew completing the Melbourne stair climb albeit from the safety of our own state. Top effort everyone and to our very own Bill Kennewell

08.01.2022 Tasmania Fire Service has declared an end to the fire permit statewide from 2am tomorrow (Thursday 26 March). This means that anyone in Tasmania intending to li...ght a private fuel reduction burn will no longer require a fire permit to do so. Even though permits are no longer required, landowners who plan to light burns on their property should: be mindful of the weather be prepared with an adequate water supply have access to firefighting equipment be physically capable consult with the owners of neighbouring properties, particularly those with vulerable crops such as vineyards. This update brings the north and south in line with the north west which had the permit period revoked a fortnight ago. At all times burning on private property is governed by local council by-laws which must be adhered to and environmental laws which govern smoke emissions. Property owners planning to burn on their land should visit fire.tas.gov.au for further information. Call 1800 000 699 to register their burn to prevent an unnecessary visit from a local brigade.

07.01.2022 Tasmania’s fire agencies are ready to respond to any bushfires this season, with the arrival of 11 aircraft from the national fleet which will be in Tasmania fo...r the next couple of months. Aircraft are used in the initial response to bushfires to contain a fire until ground crews arrive. They also gather fireground intelligence from the air and map fires. In addition to our 11 contracted aircraft, we also have local aircraft we can call upon when needed.

06.01.2022 We're never shy to provide operational opportunities for our new members while the less newer members prepare for the endurance of a fire season.... #itshardworkbeinganofficerjustaskus

06.01.2022 Its that time of the year to change the batteries in your smoke alarms, unless you have a 10 year battery version. *HotTip* write the installation date on the downward facing side of your 10 year smoke alarms!

06.01.2022 Help us to help you. You wouldn't believe how often we get the wrong directions to get to an incident. Download the emergencyplus app as mentioned below and know precisely where you are so we do too.

05.01.2022 Like many brigades across Tasmania, it was a bit of an unusual start for the day for us!...

05.01.2022 Just a note here to confirm that Permits are still required in our area as indicated by the permit sign on John Lees Drive.

04.01.2022 Aaaaand they're off!!

01.01.2022 Did you clean your lint filter last time you used your clothes dryer?
