25.01.2022 Locked down sunrise at Narrabeen.
25.01.2022 It feels strange not to be following the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race this year and with many of us in lockdown as the year draws to a close it would be easy to think we have missed a lot of sailing in 2020. Luckily we have the Vendee race and the AC75s to keep us entertained. The reality is that there’s been a lot of great sailing on Pittwater this year with RPAYC supporting some major events like the 5.5 Metre Worlds, the MC38s, great one design and centreboard racing as well as the revival of sailboarding and the explosion of high speed foiling. I’ve put together a small collection of sailing images, all taken this year, to remind us that we have enjoyed some great sailing in 2020. Hope you enjoy them.
25.01.2022 I've walked up to Barrenjoey Lighthouse many times to photograph sunsets or the Milky Way but I've never put in the effort to get there for a sunrise, until today. A quick climb up the Smuggler's Track in the predawn cold and fog was well worth every lung busting breath. This is just the first image uploaded but there looks to be some nicer shots still in the camera. Great start to the weekend. EXIF: ISO 160, f8, 1/40th @24mm Image Dinghy Fever Photography
25.01.2022 The Mick Hole Regatta (RPAYC). It's hard to believe twelve months has passed since last year's Mick Hole Regatta. It should be a great weekend and I am looking forward to sailing the International 5.5 Metre Alpha Crucis. Images Dinghy Fever Photography

23.01.2022 Bombo Quarry (NSW) I decided to revisit this shot taken at Bombo Quarry back in October 2018, and process it in B&W to give it an old film look. Unfortunately the original image was taken mid morning and the light wasn't ideal. I hope to get back down there sometime for a sunrise. EXIF: ISO 100, f14, 0.8sec @32mm... 23.01.2022 Turimetta Beach NSW There was so much potential with this morning's sunrise, but then at the last moment it fizzled out. It was 18C before sunrise so it was really nice to be on the beach early today anyway. EXIF: ISO 100, f8, 1/15th @26mm... Image Dinghy Fever Photography
22.01.2022 Mirabaud Yacht Racing Image Awards It's that time of the year when I need to think about my submission for the next Mirabaud Sailing Image Awards. This will be the fourth year that I have submitted a photo, and while I've been lucky enough to have two images pre selected among the top eighty I am not too proud to admit that I'd love to have one make it to the top twenty which are displayed at the Yacht Racing Forum. ... This year's Yacht Racing Forum will be held in Portsmouth, England. At this stage I am still undecided about which image to submit but ideally I'd like it to reflect an event hosted by RPAYC or a class that the Club supports. Despite Covid 19 there's still been plenty of sailing at RPAYC to choose from. Following are a few of the images that I am considering, I would welcome your thoughts and any constructive criticism. Cheers Warwick. Images Dinghy Fever Photoghraphy
22.01.2022 Willow. It's been a big weekend for our little yoga puppy. I just hope she doesn't turn into a hell hound at 2.00am tomorrow morning. Image Dinghy Fever Photography
22.01.2022 Selden for Sailing Winter Series (RPAYC) Here's a few shots from this morning's racing on the South Course. I got up to the North Course briefly, but it was cold and windy up there and just too difficult in the RIB on my own to get any photos. Images Dinghy Fever Photography
18.01.2022 "Willow" Although she is still quite small she's fast, and getting faster. I'd back her every time over forty or fifty metres. EXIF: ISO 320, f6.3, 1/1250th @280mm... Image Dinghy Fever Photography

17.01.2022 So I walked up to Barrenjoey Lighthouse before sunrise this morning hoping to get a shot of some fog in Pittwater. Instead I saw a terrific sunrise over the sea of fog rolling out of the Hawkesbury River, that swept over Barrenjoey Headland leaving some impressive clouds over Palm Beach when it cleared. These three images best capture what happened over a period of about thirty minutes. It was just magic. Images Dinghy Fever Photography

15.01.2022 You've got to love the diversity of sailing on Pittwater. We were on the water this afternoon watching some centreboard racing and grabbed a few quick photos. Images Dinghy Fever Photography
15.01.2022 Selden for Sailing Winter Series (RPAYC) These Optimist sailors were handling the windy conditions better than many older sailors in different classes this morning. EXIF: ISO 320, f11, 1/1250th @220mm... Image Dinghy Fever Photography
13.01.2022 Turimetta Beach NSW When the sunrise didn’t work out quite the way you hoped there’s always the option of a long exposure shot of water moving around the rocks. This shot was a thirty second exposure taken with a 10 Stop Neutral Density filter. I can count at least five photographers on the rocks in this photo. Zoom in, can you see them? 11.01.2022 Willow ... baby she was born to run The working dogs of Sydney’s Northern Beaches are in lockdown too. Sitting by the window is Willow’s way of letting us know when she is ready to go for a run.
11.01.2022 Willow She’s getting taller, faster and smarter but still has to grow into those big ears. We’re so grateful to Paul MacPhail from Beloka Kelpies in Victoria who was very generous with his time and advice last week. Watch him on YouTube, Meet Paul MacPhail from Beloka Kelpies.

09.01.2022 As unlikely as it may sound I have found a Norwegian website www.yr.no that's very accurate at predicting fog and cloud over Sydney's northern beaches. So when I saw the forecast for fog this morning I had an opportunity for a shot that’s been on my mind for a while. It's the sun rising over Barrenjoey Headland with the crescent moon still visible and heavy fog rolling out of the Hawkesbury. The shot was taken from West Head in Ku-ring-gai National Park. 05.01.2022 Winnererremy Bay Sunrise. I've had an image like this in mind for a while, but it turned out to be a bit more complicated than expected and I'm not sure I am completely happy with it yet.
03.01.2022 As expected there was plenty of fog in the Hawkesbury River this morning, but at sunrise very little of it had drifted out as far as Barrenjoey. Still, it was a great view from West Head and a really nice way to start the day. EXIF: ISO 100, f7.1, 1/100th @18mm Image Dinghy Fever Photography
01.01.2022 One more image from this morning's foiling sessions on Pittwater. EXIF: ISO 320, f7.1, 1/1250th @380mm Image Dinghy Fever Photography
01.01.2022 It’s great to see the diversity of sailing options offered by RPAYC over the last couple of years. Let’s hope the club can keep that momentum going. The foiling sailboards and Waszps were all enjoying some air time on Pittwater this morning. Images Dinghy Fever Photography
