25.01.2022 I'm so excited to be back doing what I love best - marrying people! It's no secret that whilst I love ALL size weddings, elopements are my favourite. It's stripped back, every word is listened to and said with such reverence. Jannie and Emma chose to say their "I do's" at a little park up here in the Dandenong Ranges with their 8 guests. It was just lovely. Emma wanted to surprise Jannie with her dress and that red was just divine - especially against the green backdrop.... Congratulations Emma and Jannie - it was all meant to be. A beautiful day for such a genuinely warm-hearted couple. Much love to you both. <3 xx <3

24.01.2022 || WHAT'S YOUR PLAN B? || It's like ra-a-ain on your wedding day ... Alanis Morissette said this so succinctly in her 1980s hit 'Ironic' Last Friday, Lise and Matt tied the knot with their children and a handful of loved ones. And it rained. It rained and rained but it didn't matter. Do you know why? Because we had the fabulous inside option at The Gables (with chandeliers, fireplaces and opulent staircases!)... Even if your inside option is your lovely home, you do need a Plan B. Because living in Melbourne, we know how unpredictable the weather is. Many couples have their hearts set on marrying outside but sometimes it's just not practical! No one wants frizzy haired, chilled to the bone guests who can forget the happiness of the occasion because they are cold and wet. The same goes for summer when your guests, who have been outside much longer than you may have, are hot, sweaty and getting their cranky pants on. If we scale this back a bit, it's only the ceremony part. You can have it inside, then if you and your partner want outside photos after the ceremony, then knock your socks off and do it! Normally, we Celebrants would be fairly quiet over the colder months until about September. It also means I allow myself couch time with a book and a good cup of tea. This is my favourite book and one of my most favourite movies! But I digress .... Since restrictions have lifted somewhat, elopements are on the rise through winter and larger wedding...s that had previously postponed until next year are now looking to bring their wedding forward. So if you want to get married more than you want the party, book now for winter and take advantage of greatly reduced rates! 21.01.2022 Only Melbourne could provide two such different days in one weekend. As cool and drizzly the weather was yesterday, today was brilliant sunshine and my elopement today was at Brighton Beach Boxes! Lisa and Stephen only had two witnesses, along with me as their Celebrant and Chris from Final Concept Productions as their photographer. Perfect weather for them to stand together, take in each other's faces and bask in their happiness. 16.01.2022 || WEDDINGS AND KIDS || A fellow celebrant friend once used the fun term 'kid wrangler' when referring to organising kids at weddings. I've never forgotten how accurate that is. Today I officiated a wedding for a beautiful blended family who wanted their 3 children involved as much as possible. I sent them a document with a bunch of ideas and they chose:... 1) a family certificate to sign 2) a family hug 3) the kids pronounced them married! #3 was the best! Last Sunday, Toddy and I attended the 5k FoamFest here in the spectacular Yarra Valley with a group of our friends. There was mud, water, obstacle courses, jumping castles (in one of which I nearly died - true story!), water slides and lots of foam with a lot of laughter.
