01.01.2022 I wanted to give a massive shoutout and thanks to the EVO energy, Gen Plus and National Community Care teams for their pro-active approach, professionalism and support for the amazing individuals living in Alex’s House in Stirling, Canberra during a major power outage last week. For those that not aware, when supporting people with disabilities in high levels of care, having a continuous 24/7 power supply is essential. It powers equipment such as breathing respirators, kidney... dialysis machines, refrigerates medicines and a whole range of other supports such as climate control for individuals who struggle to maintain their body temperature. When DHS were made aware of a major power outage, it was all hands on deck to ensure the individual safety of everyone living there, Gen Plus were able to provide a massive generator to ensure there was a seamless transition from mains power to solar batteries and then to generator power. This ensured everyone living there had constant power to the property during the outage. A big thank you to Tahla Small and National Community Care, George from Gen Plus and Dale and Peter from EVO energy who all came together as one to make it all happen seamlessly. Not only that, but when the power returned, they had to do it all again in reverse! The entire operation went without a hitch and Alex’s house established yet another first: - It was the first group Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) house for 4 participants in the ACT - It’s the first SDA house in Australia to provide 24/7 Clinical Care under the NDIS - And last week, for a brief period, became the only house in Stirling to have power Thank you again to everyone involved, such a great outcome and one worth celebrating! #disabilityawareness #NDIS #sdaprovider #thankyou #comingtogether #alexshouse #ndissda #greatjob #PoweringOn
