24.01.2022 Coronavirus threatens to disrupt $19.9 billion video surveillance market Although the coronavirus outbreak has had only a minimal impact on the video surveillance market so far, the industry still faces a risk from falling demand and a potential production bottleneck spurred by labor and component shortages in China, according to Omdia. Production of video surveillance equipment is heavily concentrated in China, with the country accounting for 90 percent of global production ...of video surveillance cameras, and 45 percent of worldwide global market revenue in 2019. As a result, any coronavirus-related disruption to production, supply chains or workforces in the country could have a significant impact for a global video surveillance market totaling $19.9 billion in 2020. Given Chinas status as the worlds largest producer and consumer of video-surveillance cameras, the country wields a proportionately massive influence on the global market for these products, said By Tommy Zhu, senior analyst, video surveillance, at Omdia. Video surveillance equipment suppliers in China currently are contending with reduced production because of a lack of manpower and delays following the Lunar New Year. Meanwhile, domestic demand for general-purpose video surveillance products is likely to cease or suffer delays as the Chinese government focuses on coronavirus control.

23.01.2022 This unpredictable season of bush fires, storms and blackouts has shown the issues with camera systems, security systems and NBN routers without back up uninterruptible power supplies. (UPS). If your camera system does not have a UPS and power goes off so does your complete camera system and it stops recording. If your router/modem is not on the same back up UPS you will not be able to view your cameras remotely. I see this so often when people chase a cheap price for their camera system installation rather than listen to a qualified and security licenced installer. Give us a call if you need a price for a UPS for your security devices. Mobile 0421-319-422

21.01.2022 Hikvision and Dahua banned in the USA now and thats why we use Australian made cameras. Unfortunately we loose quotes as people chase price and quick purchase options. I would rather stand by a product that has no security issues. After 33 years in the security industry I can say we called it several years ago. Read the article below and make your own choice its very clear, Although we have some supply issues with our current preferred brand I would rather wait till supply... returns than install this equipment. We have 50 x 6mp high end cameras on back order since December and happy to wait till they arrive. Chinese video surveillance network used by the Australian Government 7.30 / By Dylan Welch and Kyle Taylor from ABC Investigations Posted Tue 11 Sep 2018 at 7:12pm, updatedWed 12 Sep 2018 at 2:20am Two CCTV cameras Chinese CCTV cameras outside a Federal Government building.(ABC News) They've been used to identify ethnic minorities and political dissidents in China, and were last month banned by the US due to concerns they were creating a "surveillance network" among federal agencies. Now it appears a pair of Chinese video surveillance companies have become entrenched in Australia's government as well. One camera was used to monitor security threats at a sensitive Australian military base. Another hangs outside the front entrance of the Canberra office complex that houses the Australian government's top lawyers, two federal departments focussed on national security and an Australian intelligence agency. And then there are the hundreds of thousands of surveillance cameras in houses, on street corners, in local council offices, at schools and universities, on buses, in shopping centres and thousands of other public spaces across Australia. Almost all of the cameras are made by two Chinese owned companies, Hikvision and Dahua. Both face long-standing accusations of spying on behalf of the Chinese Government. "Having these sorts of cameras in secure facilities just doesn't make any sense," Fergus Hanson, head of the International Cyber Policy Centre at the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, said. "It's a real dereliction of duty to have them in military bases. "But even on the street you've got the potential to inadvertently contribute towards Chinese espionage activity by providing real time information about the situation on the ground, all over the world, and in collective terms, quite an important data feed to China." Last month Hikvision and Dahua were banned from US government use via an amendment to a defence spending bill. "Video surveillance and security equipment sold by Chinese companies exposes the US Government to significant vulnerabilities, and my amendment will ensure that China cannot create a video surveillance network within federal agencies," the architect of the amendment, Republican congresswoman Vicky Hartzler, said.

12.01.2022 Just to let you know most of my suppliers are already advising of a 3-5% price increase from 1 April 2020 as the Australian dollar has devalued against the US Dollar. In summary not only can we not get stock due to the current overseas supply issues, if we did get it it will be more expensive.??

10.01.2022 Every week i encounter a sub standard installations which the end user has to pay to rectify. In this case the house was only two years old. The original installer cannot be found and as you can see by the photos i can understand why. The detectors were mounted with a home made bracket and didnt provide any coverage. The power supply was in a plastic lunch box as it was dangerous and the garage light just had no chance of ever working.? Please use a licensed security technician/installer. All security technicians and installers in NSW must hold a current NSW Police Security personal Licence and wear it whilst installing the equipment. The company must hold a Security Master Licence. Check the company details and make sure they are qualified to install your equipment.

06.01.2022 This is why we refuse to use some brands of cameras and have for several years. As licensed Security Consultants we became aware of this along time ago and took a strong stance against Dahua and Hikvision. It is also important to note these brands are re badged under more common names. The Sydney Morning Herald wrote: Chinese surveillance cameras removed due to security concerns By Anthony Galloway... January 21, 2020 10.52am South Australias health department is removing from its buildings all closed-circuit television cameras made by a Chinese surveillance giant due to security concerns. The department will remove all cameras made by Hikvision, a partially state-owned Chinese surveillance technology company, from its public hospitals and nursing homes. But despite the warnings, Hikvision cameras continue to operate in other government buildings across the country, including NSW health facilities where there is no plan to remove
