24.01.2022 Ultra impressed with members of the Dobson Mitchell Allport team who competed in the Bruny Island Ultra Marathon last weekend. Chris Gay ran all 64km on his own(!!!) and the rest of the team participated as a relay. Nice work all!

22.01.2022 On Friday 11 October, Craig Green from our Commercial Litigation department spoke at the Industrial Relations Society of Tasmania (IRST) conference Industrial Relations: The Bigger Picture. Craig spoke about some recent social media cases and how employers can deal with employee misconduct involving social media. The conference brought together practitioners from the legal, human resources and union fields to discuss a range of issues including the gig economy, the implic...ations of Comcare v Banerji and the use of enforceable undertakings by the Fair Work Ombudsman. Craig is Vice President of IRST.

Our newest member of the team, Jennifer O'Farrell, has written about the new Government measures to assist struggling businesses during the economic downturn caused by Covid-19. *The Government has loosened some corporate and personal insolvency laws to assist struggling businesses during the Covid-19 economic downturn. *The laws temporarily increase the debt thresholds to issue statutory demands (...issued to corporate debtors) and to commence bankruptcy proceedings (against personal debtors). *The time for debtors to respond to these demands and proceedings has also increased temporarily. *Directors will be temporarily relieved from the personal consequences of insolvent trading. *The ATO has also introduced a number of measures to assist businesses meet their payment obligations.
