25.01.2022 This morning I was out of the office supporting the "Salvation Army Wills Day" (an excellent way to get yourself a bargain will and support a charity at the same time https://www.salvationarmy.org.au//wi/community-wills-days/ ) and came back to an email from "Include a Charity" which gave me something else to think about. Moving forward I will, indeed, try to make sure I ask all our wills clients the simple question, "Do you want to give anything to charity?" because as the... email informed me: "Include a Charity is a campaign of over 80 charities working together to increase the awareness of leaving a charitable gift in your Will. In our last research study, we found that two-thirds of Australians either are, or would like to consider leaving a charitable bequest. Yet only one in 12 currently are! One of the reasons for this is simple Australian solicitors often just do not ask the question. If they did, the data shows that charities could receive at least one billion dollars more annually! You dont have to push the issue just ask if they would be interested its easy. The difference one question could make is staggering!"
