18.01.2022 First we had bold brows, then we had contouring, next was strobing and NOW we have BAKING! So today I was getting my bake on which is a term used to get a flawless finish, where makeup doesnt slide and under eye concealer creases are no longer the bain of your life. The results are in and are pretty bloody good BUT its definately not a quick fix or something you can short cut or cheap out on (as I found out the other day when I tried to bake in a hurry).... What you need is a whole lot of product and a little time and patience so baking whilst it gives amazing results may not be a realistic step to add into your routine. HOW TO: Do foundation as normal and contouring (if you contour with cream as well as powder not if you just use powder). Now hit up your concealer, you want a lot of it and thick so I used ELF maximum coverage concealer (available in KMART and its like 4/5 bucks). Applied to the whole eye area and higher cheekbone and make sure its well blended. Then do another layer (I changed to MAC pro longwear concealer, no reason just wanted to) and blend. Then spray a clean dry sponger with a little water in a spray bottle OR some setting spray if you have it and blend out the area some more. Finally with loose translucent powder use another clean dry sponge and dampen in the same way and put in your powder then load onto the eye area and anywhere else you want to set (chin, below contouring, down the center of nose and forehead). By now you should be looking prettt scary with obvious powder caked onto said areas. Leave to BAKE for 5 mins and then dust off with a powder brush!! Continue with the rest of your routine, adding contour (powder), blush, highlight etc!

18.01.2022 Yesterdays make-up. Contouring/Highlighting on fair skin isnt easy. "Highlight with a colour about 2 shades lighter than your skin tone." Erm but my skin tone is the lightest shade there is.. Anyone else get this problem?! It is acheivable you just need to know what your doing!

14.01.2022 OKAY, So there are some incredibly talented makeup artists out there, and a lot of them live in a place called Instagram, have you heard of it, its like the new Beverly Hills for people who haven't made it to the level of R E A L L I F E fame and fortune yet, BUT who are talented (probably more so) none the less. I LIVE for these people. My fellow MUA's. My soul sisters and brothers. B U T, I could never understand how they could look like THAT and I could only look like THIS.... They're pictures are always so incredibly F L A W L E S S. WHY?! HOW?! WHAT AM I DOING SO WRONG?! (Cos I'm pretty sure I look fly as hell in real life ) **Did I just really say that** ANYWAY, I cracked it. I watched youtube vid after youtube vid and its all the same, all this time I haven't been missing a trick, I've been missing about 5! Apps, filters, changing of levels and hues, patch tools, smoothing, whitening... they do it A L L and I am in AWE! (Seriously the time and dedication it takes for ONE picture to make it to the hall of instaFAME is INSANE) They arent even using their phone but most of the time they are using a SONY A5100 - dubbed the official camera of instagram! I am a LOVER of these talented, inspiring men and women BUT I understand, I G E T it. The editing is to showcase their work, like back in the day when y'all would call it editorial or photographic and see it in magazines and professional websites. Its the SAME thing, but the way in which the world incorporates it has changed. These people dont look THAT flawless in real life, their highlighter doesnt reflect so much sparkle that you could start a fire with it, and their skin certainly wont look like the flawless ethereal beauty that it does on camera. NO, NO and NO. It will look amazing (not including work done by your vision impaired Aunt Doloris) but you WILL look like your wearing a shit tonne of makeup... BECAUSE YOU ARE! And the reality isnt for everyone. **Power to you naturually ethereal beauties** So please keep it all in check. Seperate showcased material from real life. Accept we are makeup artists not miracle workers. We cant just magic away dry skin, acne or problem areas. We cant change eyeshape or the fullness of your lips. But a camera can. Respect makeup is a form of art. Dont punish us for it. I dont tend to edit my pictures, but below is me trialling some of the suggested tricks I should use to get insta ready!

12.01.2022 Yesterdays completely RANDOM makeup look, that ended up being Minnie Mouse esque with a jumper to match. I NEVER wear a bold lip and actually only initially put it on for the photo. I was obviously feeling quite daring seeing as my chosen hairstyle was pretty out there for a lazy Sunday lunching at Little Creatures, so I decided to be brave and keep it on. As you can imagine I did attract quite a few stares pushing my pram with Ailbe along, chatting with Sean minding my own b...usiness. Whether they were good stares, bad stares or genuine curiousity I dont know but who cares, I LOVED this whole look. I think Im guna get into the whole bold lip thing after all...

04.01.2022 So I tell Sean about my idea to film a "get ready with me" for my makeup page so people can see what Im doing and that I can use his gopro strapped to my head. He didnt really like the idea and told me he doesnt think its guna work. And when I ask why? He replies - how are you guna contour? Are you just guna be like excuse me while I contour around my gopro... He knows the gig better than I do!!!

04.01.2022 Sometimes its pretty impossible to keep your makeup kit stocked out in high end brands such as MAC, Benefit, Napolean, Clinique, Estee Lauder, Bobbi Brown etc. We all have budgets and financial strains and are forever trying to live within our means so saving where you can is such a bonus! Not all products NEED to be expensive, and actually sometimes regularly using certain higher end products can actually be detremental for your skin. A lot of these brands are designed for P...ROFESSIONAL use and have over time just filtered in to the "every day market". Sometimes the outcome can look amazing but thats where it can begin and end, certain products are only designed for aesthetic purposes not to benefit your skin at the same time. This of course can be the case for "budget" brands as well but you would be surprised that it is more common for cheaper MAKEUP products to be better for your skin than expensive ones. So it is important to get the BALANCE right and to know exactly what your looking for - you want skin benefits but of course you still want your makeup looking on point. Do you know what you're looking for? Do you need a overhaul or refresher?! Do you want to get into makeup or back into it - but dont know what you need or dont have the money you think you need to buy it?
