18.01.2022 Emergency Services Minister Fran Logan MLA officially announced the completion and delivery of our first Marine Rescue rigid inflatable boat (RIB) yesterday. Designed by our long-standing partner Southerly Designs the 8.3 metre aluminium RIB has foam filled collars and features an enclosed cabin with seating for three crew. Built under contract to the Department of Fire and Emergency Services WA (DFES), Cape Rose is now part of the Marine Rescue Shark Bay - VMR fleet in Denham, Western Australia. 18.01.2022 Did you know that Dongara Marine Founder and Director John Fitzhardinge began designing, building, and operating commercial fishing boats in Port Denison in the 1960s, before founding Dongara Marine with his wife Beth in 1975? Here he is (second from left) on "Silver Trevally", the first boat formally built under the Dongara Marine name. As the May 1977 issue of "Australian Fisheries" magazine reported the 11.8 metre "Silver Trevally" was constructed from fibreglass, had a top speed of 20 knots, and a cruising speed of 16.5 knots. At the time the owner, John Cole, was Western Australian State President of the Australian Fishing Industry Council. If you or anyone you know has any photos or tales from our early days we would be glad to hear them.

13.01.2022 Hard to believe it's already two years since we first shared this video of the (then) brand new Poppa G owned by Bass Marine, designed by Southerly Designs, and proudly built by us. At 26.5 metres overall she packs a lot of technology in that enables her to work in commercial fishing (6.5 tonnes of live lobster!), offshore industry, and charter work.
