25.01.2022 The last two days we've been busy with AI on the heifers. All went well, with only a handful that didn't get joined due to their cidr's falling out and 2 freemartin. The bulk of the heifers got joined to Semex Perseus and the rest got joined to Lucky-PP. Cross fingers we get some red Holstein calves next spring

25.01.2022 One of the pivots that is currently being ripped and prepared for the maize crop to go in

24.01.2022 Well today we got a new staff member everyone meet "Donnie" the apprentice vermin control. Donnie was found in a haystack where his mum had accidentally been killed so we have adopted him, as he is quite young he will start out on day visits with herd manager Jo and go home with Jo till he is big enough to stay unsupervised at the dairy.

21.01.2022 Over the last two days we've had the pleasure working with Tafe SA Mount Gambier Campus to help train Ag students gain their A.I certificate. This course is a 4 day course spread over two weeks. This year sees a much smaller class due to covid-19. We have held the A.I course a number of times over the years and always look forward to helping with all aspects of training future farmers.

19.01.2022 Ripper in action From last years section planted to maize - this is what we had to do when Donovans was first set up 22 years ago - we are re - ripping sections now as we rotate Maize through them renovating them back to pasture in the autumn. The ripping allows us to cut the paddocks if required when put back to pasture and most importantly gives us sufficient root depth for the pasture species Next step is disk ploughing and then rock mulching and planting to the corn .

17.01.2022 Donnie spent the afternoon with the girls out on farm, Georgie and Brookie got some nice photos of the little fella they sent in to share

15.01.2022 Makes feeding out grain not fun when it is wet as the grain dust blows back in ya face and it sticks

14.01.2022 Some of the girls making their way to the dairy this morning

11.01.2022 That is the most milk we have had in one day! Milking 2322... give or take a couple

10.01.2022 Our main concern with Donnie was how our queen dairy cat "Hungry" would take to him as she belts up any cats that come in the dairy as it is her domain.....but turns out she quite likes the little fella

07.01.2022 Lachie has been flat out again this week in the tractor with silage still to be done, he has sent as in some more great photos from out in the field

01.01.2022 The spring 2020 girls are getting closer to wean time #Mylo

01.01.2022 I think these girls are definitely ready to wean now.....starting tomorrow! If you see them everyday they don't look like they are that big.... but then when you decided to get the calf weigh tape messure out for a bit of a look and it maxes out at 125kg you then think hmmm yeah they should make 110kg #Mylo #Multimin
