21.01.2022 I couldnt be prouder of my two ponies this weekend at the Boneo Park August comp generously sponsored by Hi Form. Harmonie posted fantastic scores, with nearly 73% in the Prix St George yesterday and starting in the Intermediate 1 yesterday and today scoring 71.2% & 71.9% respectively. She was the winner in each of her classes with a 5% lead each time! I also debuted Tobinski in Medium, who due to being so busy with clients at shows over the last two years, hadnt competed s...ince 2017. He was a total star, trying so hard. A few wobbly green moments to be forgiven, but plenty of 8s and 8.5s. Im so excited for his future. He posted two high 60 scores and placed third and second yesterday amongst some amazing horses. He was a bit tired today, but its a big job being a show pony!!! He still got a ribbon Massive shout out to the team of support - especially Jackie holding the fort at home and Sheree at the comp. 17.01.2022 So a rather badly kept secret to tell! I have recently moved from the beautiful Sunbury Lodge Equestrian Centre. What a fantastic year it was in this amazing facility. The hugest thank you to Ross and Anne Smith for being the most utterly delightful hosts. This property is on the market and having lived and breathed it for the past twelve months, let me tell you if you are in the market, go check it out! So now what you wonder... I have down sized the horses in training so t...hat I may concentrate on my own horses and my para equestrian, Tilda Carnegie for her Tokyo campaign. We are now based back at Ellanbrae Park in Macedon. Ive also taken a position riding some of the super young stock coming through this stable. Today was my first official day doing this, and let me just say WOW!!! Carolyn, Charlie, David and her team at Ellanbrae have produced some of the most well bred, quality young horses Ive come across in this country. 17.01.2022 Some people ride for fun, some people ride to fulfil ambition and some people ride for their income. For me it is for all of these reasons. Places like Boneo Pa...rk are my office and the riders, judges, officials, organisers and horses are my work colleagues. And I have the best bunch of work colleagues getting around. I had many reasons to be smiling at Boneo Park Spring CDI this week. A PB of 73.8% in the Prix St George and backed up the following day by 72.2% in the Intermediate 1 on the beautiful Harmonie W. Thank you to Benleigh Equestrian for sponsoring these classes. But I must say, the show was so much more than these two results. Along side Harmonie W, I had Tobinski competing in the Medium, who, new to this level managed a 69% and 6th in one class, hes a very exciting horse for the future. I had the pleasure of giving 4 year old Ellanbrae Koal Diamond (De Niro/Johnston) his first outing for training off the property for his new owners Mary and Rob Hanna and he was a superstar - so grown up now. Some really impressive horses are being bred by Ellanbrae Park and now they have their beautiful stallion Dante Quando, Bundeschampionate winner standing at stud, the gene pool is even more exciting. 14.01.2022 Breeding it’s all in the mares. Opportunity for the 2020 breeding season We here in Australia seem to seriously undervalue the damline when looking at horse...s. But in Europe, it is well recognised that a horse from a good sport producing or licenced stallion producing damline is a good bet when looking at youngstock. The damline does not refer to who was the damsire, or the dam’s damsire, but to the actual mares who have proven themselves to consistently produce quality offspring for sport and/or breeding. Predicated mares, horses who have competed to high levels, licenced stallions coming from the damlines. Here in Australia we all look for famous stallions in the pedigree, and yes, having a pedigree rich in stallions who have competed to Grand Prix is a good indication of offspring who may well in the right hands also make it. But we have historically missed that which the Europeans take for granted - that it is of fundamental importance in breeding to have horses descending from mares who have proven their value to the gene pool. Ellanbrae Park is privileged to have some incredible mares from some of the top producing damlines in Europe as the foundation of our breeding program. For the 2020 breeding season, we are pleased to offer the opportunity to breed your own foal from any of our currently available special mares (the sport mares via embryo transfer).
