25.01.2022 Our Swimming Carnival is on this Friday, the 20th November. Make sure that you are at school to join in the carnival fun! Well done to Year 2! They are the class with the highest attendance for the last 2 fortnights in a row. Keep up the deadly attendance Year 2!

24.01.2022 Yesterday on assembly we celebrated students who have been following the Doomadgee Way in and out of the classrooms. Well done to all these students, keep being role models and leading by example.
24.01.2022 Get ready for our survey! Doomadgee State School will be conducting a student wellbeing and engagement survey. This will help us to support student achievement in the classroom and beyond. The results will inform future planning and teaching. The trial will run between the 19th and 30th October. For more information, please come and see our Deputy Principals, Ben or Graeme. 24.01.2022 Every week students participate in a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) lesson that brings together the whole-school community to contribute to developing a positive, safe and supportive learning culture. Our PBL Focus area this week is, We look after our School Mates & our Staff.

23.01.2022 This time last week we had our Athletics Day. Thanks to all staff, students, parents and community members for all your work and support - it was a fantastic day. Congratulations firstly to our age champions and to all the kids who tried their best and had a go. Great work everyone.
22.01.2022 Yesterday, our Year 4's enjoyed a Pizza Party lunch as part of their classroom's reward system. Well done Year 4 for your amazing behaviour and keep up the great work!
21.01.2022 Mobile Muster National Film Competition - Year 4 Congratulations to Christine, Keiriarna and Kristin for their great efforts in creating and making a short film to promote and educate the need for recycling mobile phones. 21.01.2022 For the last 10 weeks, some of our Senior students have been working on a Wearable Art Project showcasing Country, Culture and People. Students who have completed the task with high attendance will be invited on an excursion to Townsville in the coming weeks. During this trip students will attend further workshops and visit other schools and students who have participated in the same project.
20.01.2022 Last week Year 5 students who met their attendance goal travelled to Gregory. They participated in team building activities and celebrated finishing Year 5. Well done!
20.01.2022 The next fortnight is an exciting time here at school as we have many upcoming events. This week our Kindy Transition dates begin, and we have a P & C meeting. Next week we have NAIDOC celebrations on Wednesday and our Athletics Carnival on Thursday. Every class will be practicing their athletics events this week in PE classes. Make sure that you are here!!

18.01.2022 Our High School students, who participated in the 'Country, Culture and People' Wearable Art project, explored Townsville and expanded on their artistic skills this week. Students visited surrounding schools, developed new friendships with other students who participated in the same project, and engaged in art workshops run by a local artist. Thank you to our school staff and the staff in Townsville for your hard work and dedication this past week. You have made this trip a memorable experience for our students.
17.01.2022 Each Friday we start our day reading at 8:30. We read with different classes, different teachers, and even special guests. Everyone is welcome to come and read with us on Friday mornings!
17.01.2022 Over the last couple of days we have enjoyed some great meals - Barramundi and chips and Kangaroo Pie ready for our NAIDOC celebrations today. Please join us from 10am for our NAIDOC celebrations. We would love to see you there.

16.01.2022 Last night we were able to celebrate the Australian Council for Educational Leaders Queensland Branch (ACELQ) honouring some of our staff who were recognised for having made a significant contribution to the understanding and practices of the teaching profession and educational leadership. Congratulations to Miss Jessie, Ms Jelena, Mr Cook and Miss Sara who were awarded an Emerging Educational Leadership Award Pivotal People. We value the work you do to lead and support staff and students every day and we are very proud of you.
16.01.2022 Kindy Transition Day Number 3 is on tomorrow. All 2021 Kindy kids are welcome to bring their parents and carers along to meet the teachers and enjoy a play.

12.01.2022 Kindergarten transition is on again this Thursday, the 6th of August, from 9 - 11am. Morning tea will be provided. Come along to meet the teachers and have fun in the Kindy room. 12.01.2022 This fortnight our High School students have been attending School in the Park from 11:30am - 1:00pm. There are a range of learning activities for students to choose from. Stop by and check out their outdoor learning space tomorrow, Thursday or Friday. Learning will return to school next week as the weather continues to warm up.

11.01.2022 The AFL Cape York program has been in Doomadgee for a few visits throughout Term 4. Students in every year level have had the chance to practice their kicking and catching skills, and enjoy the benefits of being active with friends. The AFL Cape York team will be back tomorrow. 09.01.2022 Last Friday we started our Fun Friday clubs that run from 1:30-2:30pm every Friday. LEGO , juggling classes, soccer, school gym, gardening, dancing, music and art and craft are just some of the clubs that students can participate in. Make sure you come to school on Fridays so you can join in.
09.01.2022 This weekend many members of our dedicated staff developed their skills of classroom management and became Classroom Profilers. Classroom Profiling empowers teachers to continue managing rich learning environments using the Essential Skills of Classroom Management.
08.01.2022 Yesterday our students competed in Dragster Races! Students created their own dragsters in their Design and Technology lessons and then built them using a range of tools and equipment in the Manual Arts room. Dragster races will continue today.

07.01.2022 We would like to wish all students, families and staff a safe and healthy holiday. To finish the term, our year 4 students were lucky enough to go on a school camp at Hells Gate roadhouse. Everyone had a fantastic time. Students enjoyed games, learning about waste management and of course, their little tents. Thank you very much to all school and Hell's Gate staff for their efforts.
07.01.2022 Miss Peta’s last day today... As you start your new opportunity Miss Peta, know that we will miss working with you. Our time with you over the past years has been delightful. Thank you for all of your support while we worked together here at Doomadgee State School. You are very good at what you do. Maybe our paths will cross again in the future. 05.01.2022 This afternoon we had a ‘Welcome to Term 3’ Sausage Sizzle. A great opportunity to catch up with parents and community members and the kids enjoyed some time on the Jumping castle and Velcro wall. Thanks to everybody who could come along. We hope to see you all next week for our NAIDOC celebrations and Athletics day.

04.01.2022 Schools starts tomorrow, Tuesday the 6th! We look forward to seeing everyone at 8:15am for a bacon and egg breakfast. At the end of last term, all classes enjoyed some time on the jumping castle and velcro wall. Students who followed the Doomadgee Way everyday and had high attendance, enjoyed a 'fast pass' invitation. Everyone had a lot of fun! ... See you tomorrow!!!
04.01.2022 Our senior students have been in the workshop designing CO2 dragsters in their Design and Technology lessons. We are excited to see which car will be the fastest on race day!
04.01.2022 Today we had our final assembly of the year! We celebrated students who have been following the Doomadgee Way and who have been coming to school every day. This afternoon we had a pool party for our behaviour celebrations. Students who have been leaders in their behaviour and attendance got fast passes to the pool party, and were then joined by the rest of the school to celebrate and enjoy the fun. Don’t forget - we have our annual Awards and Christmas Concert Night coming up next Monday!
04.01.2022 On Friday, at assembly we celebrated students who have been demonstrating the Doomadgee Way over the fortnight. Check out our cohort winners. Last week was Miss Peta's last assembly with us. Along with all staff and students, Choppy wishes Miss Peta all the best at her new school. It is our Fete tomorrow! We look forward to seeing everyone here at 3:30.
04.01.2022 This term, our Year 4 students made a paper rollercoaster marble run, to learn about push and pull forces that cause objects to move. Students enjoyed testing and experimenting to see how the pulling force of Earth and friction impacted the rolling of marbles along their paper rollercoaster marble run.
02.01.2022 Everyone is invited to come and enjoy a sausage sizzle and yarn on Thursday afternoon this week. Classrooms will be open from 2:30 - 3:00pm. The sausage sizzle will start at 2:30.
02.01.2022 Last Thursday Peter Eastwell came and did a Science show about combustion. Thanks Peter, it was fun and we all learnt something new.
01.01.2022 Today is Doomadgee Clean Up Day, Tuesday 15 September. Thanks to the council for providing garbage bags and gloves, and all adults who kept our students safe while cleaning up our town. Great work everyone!
