On behalf of the Aichi Prefecture’s Bureau of Tourism and Convention, we recently held a luncheon meeting for Sydney-based media and travel agencies where we shared special insights on the destination where cherry blossoms bloom in autumn and rustic Japanese charm meets innovation and technology. The luncheon included an exclusive presentation on Japan from the Japan Nation...al Tourism Organization (JNTO) Sydney Office, as well as a presentation from doq where we shared some of Aichi's unique and exciting attractions. Yoshinori Sakuno, Group managing director of doq, and Kazuya Baba, Editor-in-Chief and General Manager of Nichigo Press Australia, established the new company in late September 2020. We reminisced and enjoyed our last moments with them as part of our team in what was a happy yet bittersweet night.... We wish them all the best for their future careers.

We had special tastings of the delicious Shirataki Sake and Cassegrain Wines, as well as the delectable appetisers that were prepared by Masuya Japanese Restaurant, which all harmoniously accompanied each other. We also had calligraphy sessions for the anniversary posters, which were drawn by one of our interns, Wakana-san from Okinawa Japan.

09.01.2022 Last week we hosted 17 students from Hokusei University in Hokkaido who were participants in a Global Skills Project in Sydney Founder and Group Managing Director, Yoshinori Sakuno shared how he started his business in Australia and about working in an inter-cultural environment. Maaya held a workshop for the students about career development, sharing her own experiences in Japan and Australia. We hope the students gained a lot of information that they can utilise after graduation. Well done guys!

07.01.2022 doq recently collaborated with Gifu Prefecture, Japan, for their first promotional event in Australia! We welcomed over 150 attendees and it was a wonderful opportunity to share the food, attractions, arts, crafts and culture that are unique to Gifu. Guests enjoyed a live performance of Ji-Kabuki, delicious Hida Beef, and tasting sakes from local breweries. Gifu Prefecture is excited to welcome more Australian tourists in the future!... Introducing Moeki Horie, another member of our specialist d.doq team who is responsible for helping clients with their digital strategies and implementation including digital ads and website modification. Currently based in Japan, Moeki enjoys working at doq as it allows her to work with a broad team and brainstorm new ideas and solutions for her clients. When she's not working, Moeki loves to watch movies. She has watched more than 100 movies since July 2020 and is currently very into zombie movies .

06.01.2022 In July we held a media event where Hoshino Resorts CEO, Yoshiharu Hoshino, provided an overview of the brand as well as some big recent updates. It was a great opportunity for Australia's tourism media to learn about the company's interesting history and what makes them a leading hotel management company in Japan. We also held a BBQ at our office where we treated Hoshino Resorts staff to Australian food and wine!

Part of our internship program involves an individual research project on a topic of your own choice, to be presented in front of the entire team. Today Ayaka, one of our interns, gave an insightful presentation on Surf Tourism in Japan. We learnt a great deal about the huge potential Japan holds for surf tourism. Perhaps Japan will become the next dream location for Aussie surfers? If that's the case, you can guarantee doq will be involved in making that a reality!
