17.01.2022 In our opinion, learning within natural settings, beats a clinic room every day!

17.01.2022 Start with big whole arm movements (e.g. blackboards, painting, chalk) before expecting small, fine movements. Children begin with scribbling, then drawing before writing.

16.01.2022 A great way to help your child express themselves is giving them a reason to talk! Sabotage their day! It will take you longer to do things, but pick your moments and in the long run, it will get easier.

15.01.2022 There are so many factors involved in a childs development. Have a look, maybe youll be surprised.

15.01.2022 Did you know that we have an 8th sense that no one talks about? Yes, that's right! We have a hidden sense called "Interoception". The interoceptive system lets our brain know when our internal balance is off by gathering information from the different organs inside our body so that it can restore its balance. For example - we drink water when we are thirsty, we put a jacket on when we are cold. When these signals get tangled within each other, we might not know which actions to take to restore balance inside our bodies and make us feel comfortable. For example - we might keep eating when we might actually be full or refuse to sleep when we are so tired.

14.01.2022 Music Talks is so fun! We use music to support childrens regulation and demonstrate communication strategies. We dance and use instruments to tap into childrens sensory systems so they can participate in a group environment. We love working with Chorus Music Therapy Clinic so please contact them or us to book in for Term 4.

09.01.2022 Have you ever stepped back and looked at your child’s play space? It should offer play ideas without becoming overwhelming for your child. Take our FOX Therapy Room for example. We have a balance of activities, appealing surroundings, and space so children can move and determine their own use of the room. ... Could your child feel overwhelmed in their play space? Are they under stimulated? Is it hard to concentrate on one activity as there are so many on offer? Having areas of clear floor space allows children to utilize their senses of imaginative play. Also having a choice of 2-3 activities can encourage a child to choose and try different things without being forced into one activity. Putting toys in boxes and out of reach not only creates communication opportunities but reduces the risk of overstimulation. We have included simple decorations up high to make our room feel full and inviting, but left the lower part of the room for children play in. So go ahead, have a look at your child’s play areas and try some of our tips at home!
