25.01.2022 Wednesday Oxytocin brought to you by these delicious little legs. Just a reminder that all those dimples and curves have always been perfect Photo of my middle daughter when she was just teeny taken by the wonderful Mamarazzi Nina

25.01.2022 This week was a tough one ... I think we are all just really missing our family and friends and being able to do so many of the things we love but we know we are doing this not just for us, but for everyone. So I’m gonna name a few things I’m grateful for:... I’m so grateful for my swing-chair, it’s my very fav spot in our backyard and I have the best view of the kids on the trampoline on it. Grateful for kids with awesome imagination making up new games all the time. Grateful for technology so that we can have long beautiful chats with people we love and see their lovely faces. Grateful for my love, for making me laugh every day and his great hugs. Grateful for the sunshine on this lovely Friday and sooooooo happy it’s finally weekend Who else had a tough one and needs a virtual hug? #melbournedoula #ittakesavillage #virtualhugs #grateful #doula

25.01.2022 Talk birthy to me When your clients know you soooo well What a lovely thank you gift and honestly - it was such a privilege being part of your support TEAM!... Azelia Parkinson I will be living in this t-shirt #doulalife #talkbirthytome

24.01.2022 I feel this deep in my soul today. I see you Beautiful art work and words by @spiritysol ... Have mercy on the mamas For we are carrying it all, and then some. We’re schooling and working and praying and worrying. Juggling careers and calendars and dishes and deadlines and math facts and marriages and mental health. We’re rising with the sun, trying our best to beat the day Hoping to squeeze in just one more task. So maybe tomorrow we’ll have room to breathe. We’re filling all the roles and bending backwards, trying not to break with the weight of it all. Have mercy on the mamas Because we’re tired to the bone, touched out, and torn to pieces scraping pennies, scrapping plans, and starting from scratch trying to find our way through the unknown on a road that’s treacherous and tricky on even the brightest of days. We’re making heart breaking decisions, Weighing risks Wondering how to keep our babes happy and engaged and safe and whole. Wonderfing how the F we’re going to be full time moms and full time teachers while also working to keep food on the table. And maybe shower once or twice before Christmas. We’re treading water- keeping our eyes on the horizon and clinging to hope, even when there’s none in sight. So tonight, in your prayers, please hold all the mamas in your heart for just a moment. We are strong and we’ll make it, but we need all the grace and mercy we can get.

24.01.2022 This just happened and I haven’t stopped laughing #silverandproud #doulalife #2020 #doula #melbournedoula #kidssaythedarndestthings

22.01.2022 ‘Doulas don’t fly in with their super capes on ... they come in and help you tighten your own’ As a Doula I bring knowledge & unwavering support. I bring consistent care. I bring calm energy & comfort. I bring essential oils, my Rebozo, positions and massage. I bring treats. I bring respect & someone who really listens. I bring a shoulder to cry on, your biggest cheerleader and (when it is safe to do so) I bring all the hugs. It is never too early or too late to bring a Doul...a into your support team. I believe that having an awesome support team, preparing, visualizing and educating yourself is the best way to prepare yourself for this magical journey that is motherhood It takes a Village Photo by the amazing Kerri Borman Photography Beautiful clients Azelia Parkinson #doula #postnataldoula #birthdoula #ittakesavillage #everyonedeservesadoula #melbournedoula

22.01.2022 Is everyone else feeling like my this Lockdown 2.0??? Weezer has the right idea!! If you are feeling unsupported whilst pregnant or with your newborn, reach out, you don’t have to be alone. Virtual support for labour/birth prep and breastfeeding support is safe and convenient. And for those lovely mums in the fourth trimester with your newborns - care packages like food and clean sheets can be dropped off - happy to pick up a load of dirty washing and running some errands for you. Doula’s are essential services, and everyone deserves a Doula! 21.01.2022 Oxytocin vibes brought to you this Humpday by Donnie I started 2020 supporting this cutie’s parents and welcomed this little guy into the world and honestly - one of my best New Years ever Even though 2020 has been quite a year for us all; this little dude’s smile tells me it’s all going to be ok ... 16.01.2022 Happy Monday from our Retrotastic Rainbow baby boy!!! (This is before he turned into our tornado of a threenager!) Why do I call him my Rainbow baby? ... A rainbow baby is born after the loss of a child. It is understood that the beauty of a rainbow does not negate the ravages of any storm. When a rainbow appears, it does not mean the storm never happened or that we are not still dealing with it’s aftermath. It means that something beautiful and full of light has appeared in the midst of the darkness and clouds. Storm clouds may still hover, but the rainbow provides a counterbalance of colour, energy and hope. I don’t think I’ve ever shared how terrified I was during this pregnancy. We lost Aurora Plum at 20 weeks just over a year before he was born. Even though all the tests and scans in world told me he was perfectly healthy it was incredibly hard for me to really relax and enjoy the pregnancy. I figured if I acted ok, I will feel ok ... my husband was wonderful and so practical and relaxed and thankfully not riddled with worry and fear like I was. I realized I needed more support this time round and I’m so grateful I asked my sister Azelia Parkinson to fly to Australia (from NZ) and be part of my birth team. She came for my last appointment at the hospital at 40+4 days and realized how anxious and emotional I was wanting him to be safe in my arms RIGHT now. Her emotional support that day changed everything. He was born 2 days later with hubby and sis by my side ... and those dimples still lights up every room! Every woman has a different journey and needs personalized and consistent support, some need more physical and some more emotional and most just need to be reminded they already are a badass. It takes a village. The beautiful crocheted rainbow in the second picture was made for me by the very talented @cro_with_the_flo #rainbowbaby #doula #doulasupport #birthdoula #postnataldoula #ittakesavillage #everyonedeservesadoula

15.01.2022 Gotta love this throwback text between me and my little sis @mrs_zee_p ... here is the context: At my last birth (our son who is now 3) I asked my little sis to fly to Melbourne from New Zealand to come and be a part of the support team, come and be my doula ... and she was a-maz-ing!!!! She was the game changer, for not only me but also my husband.... It wasn’t my first rodeo (I might even have said this to a midwife at some point, haha!) but I struggle to put into words how having her there; focused on me and the attention to detail she brought changed everything. Her strengths complimented my husband strengths and they worked as a team and I felt like a freaking rockstar dancing that baby boy out! My husband often remarks how this was his favourite labour and he wishes we had more support at the first two. And cause of experiencing first hand how important support is and how it enriches the experience; he is one of my biggest supporters as a Doula I thank my sis all the time cause she was the last sign I needed to go and study and get certified and to now proudly be doing what I know I is my calling. It was kinda full circle that I got to be her Doula (virtual - due to Covid19) for her sweet baby Tovia only 2 months ago Who was your support team? Tag & thank them #doula #doulalife #doulasupport #birthdoula #postnataldoula #ittakesavillage #everyonedeservesadoula #doulasforpartners #poopisgoodinlabour

14.01.2022 Melbourne Stage 4 Lockdown - here is your virtual hug!!! I’m sorry that this is not the pregnancy you imagined and dreamed about. Virtual support is still incredibly essential, we can do so much mental prep, birth wishes, birth education, planning, talk positions, making sure that you are equipped with evidence based knowledge to make informed choices about your birth and body. I love getting partners involved in this so they feel equipped to support you in the way you need... their support. And the hugs will be back, for now we just gotta keep everyone safe. Do you know anyone who can do with a virtual hug right now? #virtualdoula #melbournedoula #ittakesavillage #everyonedeservesadoula #virtualhug

02.01.2022 Happy World Breastfeeding Week! Everyone’s journey is unique and I found that breastfeeding is so much more about support than anything else. If you have a solid support team your journey will still have bumps but with support around you they can feel smoother. So here is to all the mammas, whether you breastfed for 5 minutes or 5 years, getting that liquid gold to you baby ... And if you are around a breastfeeding mamma, support her, she needs to be comfortable, she needs water, she needs to eat, she needs to not be rushed, she needs you to burp the baby, she needs you to not ask her to cover her baby, she needs your support. Photos of me feeding my youngest, the older two were always close, really really close #worldbreastfeedingweek #breastfeedingsupport #fedisbest #doula #postnataldoula #birthdoula #melbournedoula #everyonedeservesadoula #ittakesavillage
