24.01.2022 Phishing Alert - Fake email from Apple regarding iTunes purchase. Please be aware that we have seen quite a few phishing emails that look very much like an Apple iTunes receipt for an App store purchase. If you click any of the links in the email, you may be taken to a malicious site.

20.01.2022 We are seeing a noticable increase in email phishing scams, but more importantly they are becoming more targeted, rather than random mass mailouts. Best advice - NEVER click a link in an email unless you are 100% sure of its authenticity. NEVER pay money to an account that you have not verified verbally - especially if these details have recently changed. NEVER enter your account details or passwords into a website unless you have requested the verification. Create strong pas...swords that are difficult to link to you - And dont put your entire life on social media - every minute of every day there are countless people looking to steal your identity and defraud you. If in doubt - check with someone who knows more than you do. Further reading below on the changing face of cyber fraud. https://www.infosecurity-magazine.com//whaling-101-need-t/

16.01.2022 We are seeing an increase in the number of attempts to extort money from businesses by hijacking email accounts and then adjusting bank details on correspondence with fraudulent numbers. We recommend all businesses should have a policy in place to verbally verify any change in customer or supplier bank details. Also passwords for any online system should not be shared via email.

13.01.2022 WannaCry ransomware Alert - as per all ransomware threats they are spread via email links and attachments. DO NOT open any emails from sources that you do not trust. If in doubt immediately delete the email. Ensure your anti virus is up to date, you have installed windows updates and you have a recent backup of your data.

12.01.2022 Mater Dei School, a very valued client of ours are looking for support for a very worthwhile cause. Due to COVID restrictions many of their annual fundraising events have had to be cancelled. These events generate a large portion of the funds required for the school. We all know what a fantastic job they do. I have signed up to MOVE IT for MATER DEI - a fitness initiative for October. I am aiming to raise $500 and will be doing and average of 60 mins of excercise per day in October, rain hail or shine - no moustache, no shaved head (thankfully) and I can still have a drink. EASY!! I encourage everyone who needs to get a little bit more fitness to sign up themselves or contribute to my page. https://moveit4materdei.raisely.com https://moveit4materdei.raisely.com/trent-slater

12.01.2022 Attention all Please be advised that there is a new variant of The Crypto Locker virus being distributed via email. This virus will encrypt any data that the infected computer has access to - i.e. local user documents and any available network drives. It will also attempt to remove shadow backup copies, making restoring data much more difficult. The only solution is to restore the encrypted files from the last good backup before the infection occurred.... This virus is being distributed via an email usually containing a Microsoft Word attachment, with Macros enabled which contain the virus code. This is the worst kind of Ransomware we have seen in recent times. If you are unsure of whether an email is legitimate please be cautious delete the email if unsure or call our help desk to have it checked first. Kind Regards, Trent Slater http://arstechnica.com//locky-crypto-ransomware-rides-in-/

08.01.2022 Important Notice Today we had 4 clients come to us to remove the Cryptolocker virus. Data is easily lost. Please be vigilant. In the event you click on one of these emails and open the attachment, you must act quickly. Close the email and shut down the computer. Then call for help. Other emails falsly represent Aust Post, AFP, Police etc. The best anti virus protection is yourself. Ask us for security measures to limit your exposure to this threatening virus.

04.01.2022 Windows 10 - to upgrade or not to upgrade? There are some good new features in the latest version of Windows, and its FREE! but the reality is that this release is no different from others. It has problems early on. Over the last few months we have had numerous customers upgrade their PC's and laptops only to have issues ranging from printers and scanners not working right through to the computer being completely unusable. There is a small window of time where you can roll back to your previous version but our advice is to wait until there are more updates and patches, or better still, hold out until you require a new computer, therefore Windows 10 is installed from scratch, not via an upgrade.

02.01.2022 Phishing Alert - again We have noticed quite a few phishing emails arriving today. The subject line is Remittance Advice. The email itself is not malicious but there is a PDF attachment with a phishing link contained within. If you click this link you will be asked to verify your Email provider and personal details. As always - if you get this far then you (almost) deserve to get a malware infection on your PC. Please delete and DO NOT open the attachment.
