24.01.2022 I remember during Nathan's final days one of the doctors came to do her assessment. Nathaniel was no longer eating as his body could no longer process food. Once she was done her assessment she asked me if I had any questions. I bursted in tears and told her "It's not fair " I think I even shouted it. I was ready for her to tell me one of those crap premade sentence like " life is not fair"... But she simply reached for me held me in her arms and told me " you are right, it's not fair " This was one of the most comforting things that was said to me. So today on pregnancy and infant loss remembrance day I tell all my loss mommies; It's not fair, our babies should be here with us. Life goes on but the emptiness and pain of their absence last forever. Sending much love your way, as we remember our babies. 23.01.2022 Fetal Position The ideal position for your baby to be in before childbirth is the anterior position. The majority of babies get into this position before labor begins. This position means the baby’s head is down in the pelvis, facing the woman’s back. The baby’s back will be facing the woman’s belly.... This position means the baby’s head can be tucked in, allowing the top of it to press down on the cervix, which encourages it to open during labor. A doctor or midwife may describe a baby that lies slightly to the left as left occiput anterior or LOA, and one that lies slightly to the right as right occiput anterior or ROA. Excellent repost from @australianbirthstories Do you know what position your baby is currently in? @monetnicolebirths

19.01.2022 When birth involves the whole family This is a cord burning ritual @emma_jean_photography... Every birth is special, every birth is different even for the same mother. I think this one will forever be etched into the hearts of all who were present in this sweet little home. On the night that FOLK was born, the Moon was shining brightly above. The house was warm and filled with love. Little girls giggled and played as they excitedly waited to see their mother birth their sibling, not knowing yet that he was a boy. Candle light danced up the walls and fairy lights flickered in the water as Hayley held on tightly to Diego. His gentle hands caressing her face and holding her safely in his arms. Until suddenly he was here and their hearts were once again woven together in their shared love for another baby, their son. Repost @emma_jean_photography Mama @hadas_amor

12.01.2022 2 babies, 2 placentas, 1 strong mama #twinbirth . @milkandhannah I arrived with only minutes to go. Upon walking in, camera in hand, the midwife got down on her level, and looked at her gently. ... Mama, I know you’ve waited for the photographer. But she’s here now. You can push if you want to. My mind raced, How the fuck did she hold 2 babies in there... but alas, laboring people are resilient. We do what we have to do to get the outcome that we want. I glanced at her above my viewfinder. It was dark. The room was quiet. I don’t want to. She spoke. I don’t want to be in labor. A room of 8 of us. All women. Holding space around her. A feeling so real, so true, that there was nothing to say. Just to nod in agreement. To nod in respect. After reassurance that she did not have to push until she was absolutely ready, a contraction came, and with it she pushed. In the water was her son. She looked up at us all after catching her breath. What just happened?! I stared back, You tell me. Words by @milkandhannah

08.01.2022 This is a beautiful video of a mama breathing her daughter into the world. Posted @withregram @badassmotherbirther . ... People will always, for the rest of their lives, remember how they were made to feel while they were giving birth. When her mother spoke of her own births, she learned that her mother had a traumatic hospital birth with her first baby. So her next pregnancy led her to an unassisted homebirth. That baby, born unassisted, is the woman you see bringing forth life in this video. Ruby was 40 weeks and 3 days when labor started. She went to her mothers home to give birth. After all, her mother had an unassisted birth and she knew her support in this time would be everything to her. There, on the bed, Ruby birthed her baby, unassisted. Just like her own mother once did. And while witnessing the miracle of her granddaughter being born unassisted as well, she filmed it and ever so lovingly says to her daughter: . . ’ . Her sister caught her baby while her husband watched and supported so calmly. And forever, she will remember how she was made to feel as well. She will look back at this birth throughout her life with nothing but warm feelings of being surrounded by love, support and family. Someday, when Ruby’s daughter is older, she will hear the story of how she too was born unassisted, at home. Mommy: @shinyemee
