25.01.2022 I'm catching up on admin tasks today and focussing on my vegetable intake too. This is a photo of one serve of vegetables that I'll include in my lunch. Yes, I know it's celery, but it is fresh so cool, juicy and crunchy and will be delicious with some dip and perhaps even some peanut paste.

23.01.2022 Very excited to be in Sydney this week attending SOS training. Something I've been looking forward to all year and a credential I've been wanting to get for many, many years.

22.01.2022 Really looking forward to running my first Food Mechanics workshop in conjunction with Therapy Alliance Group - TAG this month.

21.01.2022 After an eventful 2017 I’m enjoying some family time before the rush of Christmas.

21.01.2022 #justsayin #HAES #nourish not dieting does not mean "eating ALL the things" not dieting doesn't mean nutrition is irrelevant not dieting does not mean not car...ing not dieting is not the same as bingeing not dieting is making your food and eating decisions from a place of self care rather than self control not dieting means listening to the wisdom of your body not dieting is unconditional permission to eat (or not) not dieting is living with joy not dieting is sailing through our ridiculous world teflon coated and protected from the nonsense not dieting, because you've got this xx

18.01.2022 Tonight, I'm honoured to be speaking at my kids school on one of my very favourite topics - "Body Positive for Families." I'll be speaking about what we best u...nderstand about what influences the way kids feel about their bodies, what helps kids feel good, and what doesn't. Statistically, there'll be plenty of people there who have a tough time with their own body and our culture is horribly unhelpful to parents as we're trying to help our kids navigate the complexities of living in a body, in this culture. Argh it's a tough gig. We think it's really important that we offer our kids an environment where they can grown up accepting an embracing their unique body rather than drinking the cultural kool-aid about the inflated value of appearance. They deserve better than that to live full and meaningful lives, don't you think? Here are my top ten Body Positive lessons for kids. And adults too actually lol! -Fi

16.01.2022 I am very excited to say that I will be moving with Therapy Alliance Group at the end of the year. In the meantime, you can still find me using their current rooms in Margaret Street on Thursdays or if you prefer to not walk up stairs and/or need parking close by, you can find me at the Medici Centre on Tuesday afternoons.

15.01.2022 We shopped a rainbow today at Westridge Fruit and Vegetables - purple carrots, purple cauliflower and yellow beans and tomatoes. Can't wait to cook them up. How many different coloured veg do you typically have?

15.01.2022 Enjoy whatever you choose to eat today - guilt is definitely NOT a part of a healthy diet. I find I still have to remind myself sometimes to just relax and enjo...y all the different things I choose to eat. It's a good way to role model a positive relationship with food to kids, too. Eat Happy! Jessi See more

11.01.2022 Someone offered me some 'guilt-free chocolate' today and I almost lost my mind!

09.01.2022 Tonight I continue the keeping it real theme....so anyone who has been following me for a while probably knows that I love deconstructed meals (this one is nood...le soup) and the notion of giving kids the tongs. I love this because: 1. It fits the division of responsibility perfectly. Parents/carers have the responsibility to serve food at regular intervals and kids decide if and what to eat from that choice 2. It gives the kids some control over their eating which is empowering (and a good life skill) 3. It's less stress for me, as once it's in the middle of the table my job is done and I can stop worrying about what my kids eat and enjoy the meal myself 4. Whilst it does dirty more bowls it saves on cooking and mixing everything together. I call it "deconstructed" meal, my friend calls it "ingredients" . Now for any of you out there that think I make these nice meals (and even I was proud of this one) and then all my children create 'perfectly colourful meals' and sit and eat quietly...look at the second photo now so you can see the reality. This is what my 7 year old chose! And can you guess what I said and did? nothing, I simply enjoyed my meal and so did he. Give me a for reality and feel free to tag someone who this strategy might help to reduce some of the mealtime madness. (I've been there, in the mealtime arguments and pleading. I used to be so stressed at mealtimes until I realised what I can change is myself). See more

04.01.2022 Lessons I will teach my daughter: That bodies come in all shapes and sizes. That fat doesn't necessarily mean 'unhealthy' and skinny doesn't necessarily mean '...healthy'. That our weight doesn't define how healthy we are. That continuous healthy habits means more about how healthy we are, than the number on the scales does. That scales aren't necessary. That our weight fluctuates and changes throughout our life, and that's ok. That it's never ok to judge a person on their body weight, ever. That I'll never label her 'skinny'or 'fat' because these are labels that should not define a person, yet can scar them deeply. That making healthy choices each day can make you feel fantastic. That making healthy choices each day makes you feel fantastic, but should never become a competition or obsession, nor a way of proving who you are. That cake tastes delicious and can be part of a healthy lifestyle. That guilt should never be associated with food, and to never use the term 'guilt-free chocolate cake' for example, because that's just perpetuating society’s unhealthy relationship with food. That diets don't work. That just because her friends are dieting, it doesn't mean she has to diet too. To never ever worry about what others are thinking of her when she goes to the beach in a swimsuit That she will always be loved, regardless of her size or her body weight.

03.01.2022 Thanks Zest Nutrition for this awesome meme.
