18.01.2022 *** WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY We just photographed this beautiful couple getting married at Songbird Rainforest Retreat up on Tamborine Mountain. The rain held off ju...st until the signing of the papers. My beautiful wife Dawn held an umbrella over me and my cameras (I had two around my neck) to protect the equipment. One camera had a 24-70mm lens for the wide angle shots and the other had a 70-200mm lens for close ups. After the signing, it stopped raining again so we got some nice photos on the grounds before heading back to their villa for even more photos of the couple and their daughters on their patio and then in front of the fireplace. 06.01.2022 OUTDOOR FAMILY PORTRAITS TIP for photographers: the sun was in and out of the clouds this morning. When there is NO cloud cover with the sun high above and... slightly behind your subjects, the faces will be dark with harsh shadows from the sun hitting the tops of people's noses. You need very powerful battery-powered studio flash to overcome the harsh shadows from the sun at this distances for a large group to get the quality of photos shown. A Speedlight or even two Speedlights will simply not be powerful enough for this task with a large group like this because of the distance is too far. Remember the Inverse Square Law of Lighting. When you double the distance, say from 1 metre to 2 metres, you only have 25% of the light. Each time you double the distance, you lose a massive amount of light from your flashes.
