25.01.2022 A Specialist Orthodontist is the most qualified person to diagnose, prevent and treat any problems you might have with the alignment of your teeth, jaws and bite. For this reason most dentists refer these types of problems to Specialist Orthodontists as they are outside their scope of work and ability. @dr.ajp.specialist.orthodontist

25.01.2022 What is the best age to bring my child to the Orthodontist? The Australian Society of Orthodontists recommends you take your child to an Orthodontist between the age of 8-10. However, there are some instances where your child may need to see an Orthodontist even earlier. For example, if your child has a crossbite, this can cause asymmetric growth of the lower jaw which can be easily and gently corrected as young as 6 years old.

25.01.2022 IT IS IMPORTANT TO CONTINUE WEARING YOUR ALIGNERS, RETAINERS AND ELASTIC BANDS TO MAINTAIN YOUR TREATMENT. YOU SHOULD FOLLOW RECOMMENDATIONS BY WASHING YOUR HANDS THOROUGHLY WITH SOAP AND WATER BEFORE AND AFTER PLACING OR REMOVING YOUR ALIGNERS, RETAINERS OR YOUR ELASTIC BANDS. @dr.ajp.specialist.orthodontist

08.01.2022 In 2001 Dr Pitsis was one of the first 6 orthodontists in Australia to be first accredited to use Invisalign. He also became a Platinum and Elite Platinum Invisalign Provider in the years that followed, making him one of Australia's most experienced orthodontists to use Invisalign. Invisalign consists of a series of extremely thin, comfortable transparent plastic aligners that you change every two weeks. Each aligner is individually manufactured to gradually shift your teeth ...into place to straighten your teeth and improve or correct your bite. Invisalign uses the latest software and technology that is custom-made for your teeth with the planned movement devised by Dr Pitsis and Invisalign. A 3D digital scan of your teeth is taken and sent to Invisalign who places it on there software that allows Dr Pitsis to move any or all of your teeth to the dersired position. All the aligners are then manufactured and sent to Dr Pitsis who will usually see you every 6-8 weeks to monitor your treatment. This can be cusomised and varied depending on your personal preferences where Dr Pitsis can monitor your treatment every 3 months or longer if required. @dr.ajp.specialist.orthodontist

07.01.2022 What is social distancing and why is it important? Social distancing includes ways to stop or slow the spread of infectious diseases. It means less contact between you and other people. Social distancing is important because COVID-19 is most likely to spread from person-to-person through: direct close contact with a person while they are infectious or in the 24 hours before their symptoms appeared... close contact with a person with a confirmed infection who coughs or sneezes, or touching objects or surfaces (such as door handles or tables) contaminated from a cough or sneeze from a person with a confirmed infection, and then touching your mouth or face. So, the more space between you and others, the harder it is for the virus to spread. What can I do? If you are sick, stay away from others that is the most important thing you can do. You should also practise good hand and sneeze/cough hygiene: wash your hands frequently with soap and water, before and after eating, and after going to the toilet cover your cough and sneeze, dispose of tissues, and use alcohol-based hand sanitiser, and if unwell, avoid contact with others (stay more than 1.5 metres from people). As well as these, you can start a range of social distancing and low cost hygiene actions now. These simple, common sense actions help reduce risk to you and to others. They will help to slow the spread of disease in the community and you can use them every day in your home, workplace, school and while out in public. @dr.ajp.specialist.orthodontist #covid19 #socialdistancing

Nuts, pork crackling, carrots Cut hard foods like apples and meat into small bite size pieces Cleaning teeth and braces: It is important to brush your teeth at least twice per day, morning and night.
