14.01.2022 KOMBUCHA AND TEETH Kombucha is the wellness drink of the moment, and for good reason. The fermented tea is rich in probiotics and prebiotics, which help increase the good bacteria in the gut, improving digestion and overall health. But if you really love kombucha, you need to take extra care of your teeth. Thanks to the high levels of acidity found in Kombucha (which is necessary for the bacteria in the drink to survive), it can contribute to the decay of healthy teeth. ...In fact, it is just as acidic as your average glass of soft drink and can upset the delicate PH balance of saliva, making the mouth a nice environment for harmful bacteria to grow. The acidity in Kombucha can also break down the enamel in your teeth. Wash your mouth out with water after drinking Kombucha and always wait a minimum of 30 minutes to brush your teeth post kombucha drinking. This will allow the enamel to re-harden and prevent further damage.

12.01.2022 SLEEP Sleep and Dentistry.. how is it related? The oral cavity is part of your body’s airways, so dentists can identify signs of sleeping disorders. We inspect teeth for tooth wear and cracking, which can be a sign of nocturnal grinding. We inspect the soft tissues for any trauma or burns which can show signs of silent reflux during sleep, and we look at the back of the throat; the airway including the soft palate and tonsils, because sometimes these are causing airway bl...ockage or restriction. Creating a good night time regime can improve our quality of sleep: avoid food 2 hours before bed, be careful with how much and when you are consuming caffeine, get enough physical activity through the day, try not to stress, (stress is a response to how we react to something), and nutrition is important because if we do not feed it the minerals and vitamins required, certain process cannot occur. Those important processes allow us to relax, (production of Serotonin/the happy hormone), and allow us to get to sleep (melatonin, the sleep hormone). In particular a lack of B vitamins, Zinc or Magnesium, due to diet can affect our quality of sleep. As a holistic first step at @drdanieltanandassociates we recommend a high quality Magnesium spray 30 minutes before bed to optimise your sleep. It’s simple. Spray 2-6 spritzed on to your belly or feet and rub in. by @lusyproductions

09.01.2022 REMEDIAL MASSAGE The Tasmanian Government has advised that remedial massage therapists are permitted to provide professional services at this time, provided they are working from a medical or health facility. 04.01.2022 The Australian Dental Association (ADA) has issued guidelines regarding appropriate practice during the COVID-19 pandemic. The latest recommendation is implementation of Level 3 Restrictions. Based on Level 3 Restriction guidelines, the treatment we can provide in our practice is limited, effective immediately. As business owners, this week has challenged us beyond anything we have experienced before. It is not the restriction on our practice as practitioners that hurts us mo...st but the impact this has on our staff and their livelihoods. At Dr Daniel Tan & Associates our staff are an extension of our family and it is important that we acknowledge them. The dental industry is extremely high risk when dealing with infectious disease and yet our staff have turned up every single day ready to support our dentists to help you. For this, we will be forever grateful. Our practice is still here for you. Our doors will be open Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm. Our nurses will be answering every call and email. Whilst our work is restricted, we are always happy to give advice. Should you need help, please call our practice on 6331 2804.

02.01.2022 PRP There has been a lot of talk about PRP lately; particularly since celebs like Tiger Woods and Kim Kardashian have spoken about using the therapy. PRP is known as ‘liquid gold’ and there is good reason why. The benefits? ... PRP stimulates collagen and elastin production which thickens and tightens thinning skin, effectively smoothing wrinkles and fine lines. Because it boosts collagen, it's also a great treatment for improving overall skin texture and tone. It's particularly good for people who suffer from rosacea or acne scarring. Combined with Skin Needling it is the ultimate rejuvenation. BOOK NOW via the link in our bio.
