24.01.2022 R U OK? Day is Thursday 10th September. The message to share is : Theres more to say after R U OK? Trust the signs in family, friends, teammates and colleagues. Know what to do next and most importantly know you dont have to fix it. Listen and lean in. Learning what to say next and what action to take next could change or save a life. Letting someone know they have been heard and that they matter right there in that space and moment in time can often be enough and the first step towards opening a conversation. For more tips follow @ruokday or visit www.ruok.org.au/join-r-u-ok-day @aflbarwon @readtheplayinc @tyf_au @lnetworks @dragonsbellpark #RUOKDAY #RUOK #RUOKDAY

23.01.2022 U15 DIV 2 Kempe Cup 2020 Today saw the spotlight shine on our U15 playing group in a fantastic game that saw Bell Park take the win over Torquay Scott Bell Park 9.6-60 Torquay Scott 8.5-53 The match was played under the banner of Speak out, Speak up and Protect, aiming to empower our young players with the necessary tools they need to seek help for themselves or recognise when something is not right with loved ones, be that family or friends and know what to do and where to ...go for help. The Read the Play program aims to break down mental health barriers such as: The stigma associated with mental health. The lack of knowledge about mental health/illness. The lack of a language/literacy to engage in conversation on the topic. A common reluctance to engage with adults as a part of teenage development. The concern of confidentiality. The need for choice when seeking help solutions. As part of this round, the match was played with a special white Read the Play football which was presented to the Read the Play Player of the Round. The winner was announced as Damon Schroeder. Congratulations. @dragonsbellpark @readtheplayinc @aflbarwon The criteria for the award is simple, if you identify a player that shows elements of the Read the Play message of Speak Up, Speak Out and Protect, they will be announced as the winner. We thank Cindy Jones our Junior Football Player Wellbeing Officer who organised todays event at our home ground. We congratulate both teams on a great game and thank the Read the Play program for providing today as an opportunity to focus on Youth Mental Health. They have more exciting news to share soon so follow their page and find out more. #readtheplay #aflbarwon #bellparkdragons #youthmentalhealth #kidsmentalhealth #speakout #speakup #protect #selfcare #openconversations #talk #behonest #beopen #itsokaynottobeokay

20.01.2022 After such a huge community response to R U OK? Day we would like to share Barwon Health Foundations campaign ShakaUpForMentalHealth. This campaign has been running for over a week now, close to home and close to our hearts. We encourage you to think about the mental health of family, friends, teammates and colleagues not just yesterday but every day. The ups and downs of lifes challenges can hit us at any time and for many different reasons. Send a #Shaka to a mate and check in. Sometimes a small gesture can make a huge difference in the day of someone who is trying to lift the black clouds above them. See the post below for more details.

18.01.2022 A letter from our Junior Football President Dear Members, Thank you for your support, patience and assistance during this on and off season of 2020. Whilst no doubt we are all disappointed in the season being cancelled we are also immensely fortunate to have been able to play three rounds of junior football. To see the happiness in players faces and the joy it brought to all involved in our sporting community (including players, coaches, parents and the committee) made the ef...fort worthwhile. Since the announcement by AFL Barwon we have been awaiting information regarding the Leagues accountability of expenses incurred during the year and potential reimbursement / credit amounts. We have now received this and information regarding options for paid 2020 membership is contained in an email that has been sent to all members. Thank you for your understanding during this time. On behalf of our Committee, a massive thank you to all our Club Members, Officials, Players, Volunteers, Family members and Sponsors for your hard work and diligence in coming to grips with this most unusual year. It has been a challenging year for our Committee, Coaches and others involved in fielding our junior teams and the additional effort and work undertaken to get out on the field in a safe manner. Thanks for your hard work, flexibility, resilience and commitment. We will continue to communicate any information that we receive relevant to the 2021 season. We look forward to our boys and girls having football as a part of their life again next year. Yours sincerely, Sean Jones President, Bell Park Junior Football Club
18.01.2022 FITNESS TRAINING AND BEYOND BLUE FUNDRAISER STARTING MONDAY 31st AUGUST - Please read! One of our Dragons Aiden Domic has created a fantastic opportunity to get fit and raise funds for mental health. Hi all! Hoping everyone is well and staying as productive as they can!!... To keep us all fit and connected both during COVID and into the future myself and another trainer, Matt will be running a fitness training program. This is designed to assist players in maintaining fitness and performance throughout the restriction period. Current COVID restrictions allow for outdoor personal trainers to take up to 2 clients at a time each. This means we can offer to train 4 players per block at a first in best dressed basis. The program we will be offering will be open for both juniors and seniors and sessions will be modified accordingly to target individual fitness levels and abilities. The sessions will run for 45 minutes at $20 per session. At this stage there will be sessions on Monday and Thursday nights in 45 minute intervals between 4 and 7pm (with the possibility of a 7pm slot for seniors pending on demand). We will also Increase session days depending on demand. Sessions will run from NEXT WEEK on MONDAY 31st at the times mentioned above. These sessions are available to Bell Park players and anyone else who wishes to join from the community so tag your friends and family. To book, either leave a comment below with the session you (or your child) wish to book, and we will message you back to confirm! Alternatively, either contact Matt on 0405308873, or Aiden on 0478662654. As we realise this is a tough time for the mental health for many people within the community, we will be donating 100% of the week 1 profits to Beyond Blue. We are both super passionate about doing our bit to promote good mental health and connection within the community, so we are hoping to get as many numbers as possible for the first week to boost the donations! Over the next 8 weeks we encourage everyone to donate as we will be keeping the donations page open in the lead up to another session in 8 weeks time where we will also put 100% of profits towards this great cause. We have set an end goal of raising $1500 or more so wed love to see as many as possible participating in week one! See you all next week!! https://individual-fundraiser-ongoing.everydayhero.com//ki (this needs to be done before the session)
17.01.2022 Today we celebrate the achievements of all woman in our lives on IWD2021 Together we look to create a gender equal world where all woman are acknowledged, supported and celebrated for who they are and what they do both at home, at work, at play and in the community. We value and appreciate the contribution of all woman @dragonsbellpark and our conscious and active voices, our behaviours and our beliefs seek to empower them within our club. We can do more. We will do more. ... Today you can listen to the word poet Anisa Nandaula. Her voice is strong. Her voice chooses to challenge the past and the present. We are the full stop in the gender story. We are the ones to write the new sentence, to add the next chapter, to explore the words we use and to rewrite the pages where necessary. This is our future. This is our time. What do you choose to challenge ? In your workplace, in your home, in your sports club, in your schools, in your community? What questions will you ask that will challenge what has been, what is and what is to come. Collectively we can make change happen. Together we are responsible. Together we can open up the conversation. Collectively we can drive a gender equal world. Together we can lift up woman. Together we can rewrite the story. Collectively we can commit to change. Together from our leadership within our club, from our committees to our coaches, to our players, volunteers, supporters, members, sponsors and friends of bell park we can choose to challenge. What do I expect for the future ? Change How do I do it ? Together. Challenge what has been expected and accepted for too long. Expect and accept only equality for the woman and girls in your lives. #choosetochallenge #iwd2021 @aflbarwon @netballvic @lnetworks @aflwomens @aflauskick @afl @netballaust
17.01.2022 Vote 1 @eddykontelj Call out to our members and friends @dragonsbellpark. For those in the Brownbill Ward as we head towards the upcoming Council election, please consider throwing your support behind Eddy Kontelj. Eddy has a dedicated interest in ensuring that the facilities in our wider community and at Hamlyn Park receive the funding and attention they deserve. In the past, he has been a strong advocate at Council for the Dragons and we have seen many projects successful...ly achieved through his support and determination. We look forward to new projects that are underway with his continual support. Past and current achievements include: Complete upgrade and renewal of Alex Rizun Pavilion, Change Rooms, Office and Kitchen; New Netball Courts and players shelters; Lighting upgrade of Hamlyn Oval; New cricket practice wickets; Toilet upgrade in Club Rooms; Electronic scoreboard used all year round; Small grants for uniforms and sporting equipment. We are currently working through our Master Planning and for the future projects we have envisaged we will need a strong and passionate voice to represent our Club in its efforts to grow and develop into the future. Consider making your vote count for the future of our Club #dragons #bellparkdragons #futureplans

13.01.2022 NAIDOC Week celebrations are being held around the country to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The week is celebrated not just in our Indigenous communities but also in increasing numbers across community organisations, local councils, workplaces, schools and sporting groups. This years theme is Always Was, Always Will Be. recognising that the First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for... over 65,000 years. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were Australia’s first explorers, first navigators, first engineers, first farmers, first botanists, first scientists, first diplomats, first astronomers and first artists. The very first footprints on this continent were those belonging to First Nations peoples. Let’s learn from and celebrate our remarkable First Nations people. @naidocweek @aflbarwon @dragonsbellpark

12.01.2022 A celebration of fathers today and always @dragonsbellpark We thank all those dads for the love guidance and strength they offer to their families both past and present. We give love and thanks to all the dads, stepdads, dads to be, dads who may have lost a child, the grandfathers and many father figures who take on the role when others are not able. We think today of the many sacrifices fathers make for their children and the ways both big and small that they lift their c...hildren to achieve their dreams. We thank dads for the lessons learned and the wisdom passed on. We thank them for their loving actions and words. We thank them for the role they play in raising the next generation amongst the balance of everyday life. We remember with love the fathers who have passed but live on in our memory and whose love continues to nurture us. We know today will bring joy to many but also acknowledge that it can be a difficult day for many. We hope that wherever you are, you are loved, safe and well. 05.01.2022 Check out this review of Burke Britton Financial Partners service over several years! If you are looking for financial advice, please get in touch with their wonderful team. We are privileged to have their continued support as a sponsor of Bell Park Sports and Recreation Club. We are very grateful to Peter, Ben, Aimee and Theresa, and indeed the whole team, for their wonderful service over many years. Burke Britton is like one big happy family to which we all belong. When ...we first consulted Peter we were headed for retirement and had absolutely no idea what we were doing, however in his friendly and relaxed way we were soon flying - even if I do ask the same question every year! More recently Ben has joined in and we have enjoyed meeting him and he has also made us feel very comfortable and confident. How lucky is he to have Peter as a mentor! Aimee, I am sure, goes above and beyond the call of duty and Theresa can always come up with something when I dont know what Im talking about. So, all in all, we are very happy! - Robin Andy Betz See more
