22.01.2022 What a great outcome

22.01.2022 After 12 months of travelling around Australia, I am back to the beautiful southwest. A big thank you to Dr Elliott who has done a fantastic job looking after my life while we were away Coming home to a pandemic was not the plan, but I can assure you my clinic has the least foot traffic and frequent hand washing. If you dont feel well, please let me know so we can reschedule you. I am personally not worried about the virus, but I would not like to pass it on to someone who is older and weaker. Comment below or PM me if you would like to book in. Alex

22.01.2022 We need your help! You may have heard in recent media that there is a government review on chiropractic care for children under the age of 12 in progress. We are writing to you in the hope that those of you who are passionate about chiropractic could participate in this brief survey before 21 June 2019. https://engage.vic.gov.au/chiropractic-spinal-care-children... Australian chiropractors see over 30,000 children each week, with an outstanding safety record. While the review will look at all the available evidence, due to limited clinical trials on children, the above public submissions will play a big part in determining the outcome and the future of chiropractic care for children. This consultation process is open to all members of the public. Parents, Uncles, Aunts, Grandparents or any interested persons are encouraged to respond from all parts of Australia. We would greatly appreciate you taking the time to complete the survey to ensure we can continue to offer this valuable service to children. Fo more information please go to : https://www.chiro.org.au/patients/campaigns/chiro-review/ With gratitude, Dr Alex Siegwart Chiropractor

21.01.2022 Ibuprofen and Aspirin and Coronavirus There has been information floating around claiming NSAIDS have worsened many COVID cases and have been attributed to deaths. Due to lack of proper studies, the jury is still out.... But lets think about the basics of an infection- an infection generally comes with an inflammatory response which is the chemical stimulus to the body to signal the immune system to kick into gear and fight the infection. So you pop an anti inflammatory... so what you say? Well that will also switch off many of the signalling mechanisms to fight the infection. As far as I can see, this would let the virus run rampid for a while, so I wouldnt be surprised to find out that the rumours are true. So my recommendation is even though the jury does not agree, the safest option is to stick to Panadol if necessary (although it is still a mild anti inflammatory). https://www.google.com.au//coronavirus-fact-check-what-do-

12.01.2022 We are currently in social isolation not lockdown. What this means is: 1. We should NOT be socialising with family, friends or colleagues that live in another house other than via video link etc! 2. We should NOT be gathering in groups. 3. We should NOT be replacing a night out with a night in and inviting all our friends round.... 4. We should NOT be letting teenagers and young adults gather in groups around parks and public places However, as we are NOT in total lockdown you CAN continue to: 1. Go for a walk with your own household (but staying a good distance from others eg 2-3 metres) 2. Drive to national parks, nature reserves etc (some have removed parking charges) and walk in the vast area away from others 3. Walk your dog 4. Head out to a shop for essentials, prescriptions etc for yourself or someone who is vulnerable and isolating, then head home. IF people continue to socialise in a normal way, a full lockdown will likely be enforced on us to protect the health of our most vulnerable. PLEASE DO NOT judge people for taking a walk in the fresh air and sunshine; but equally PLEASE DO NOT carry on as normal. PLEASE keep your distance from others and do not arrange social gatherings. Make the most of getting out for a walk with your own household and catching up on jobs or leisure activities at home. Please share this (screen shot/copy, paste or share where it is public), to educate people and stop any judgement of those taking an important walk in fresh air to help mental health and well being. Thank you.

11.01.2022 https://www.perthnow.com.au//p/chiro-kids-bc-5992291710001 Back to School Tips 1) Make sure your child eats a healthy breakfast before school every morning.... 2) Ensure that your childs backpack isnt too heavy. A good general rule is that their backpacks should weigh no more than 10% of their body weight. 3) Check how your child is carrying their backpack. They should be using both shoulder straps, and the backpack should be securely pulled up. 4) Have your children try on their school sports equipment. Well-fitted equipment can do wonders in preventing injury. 5) If your child has a history of injury, make sure they receive treatment before participating in more school sports. 6) Encourage your children practice good posture, especially while doing schoolwork or on the computer. 7) Book a spine assessment for your children, especially ages 9-12 to be checked for scoliosis. Early diagnosis is essential to good management. Call 97548683 for an appointment.
