21.01.2022 Ever get that feeling you're being followed?

20.01.2022 I just bought this. Now to get it home

19.01.2022 Bit chilly this morning. Luckily we had the covers over our White Sage.

18.01.2022 It's great to have the river flowing again. Gorgeous little waterfall running into the river.

18.01.2022 This is what a 600m2 greenhouse looks like when it's pulled apart. Very big job disassembling it yesterday. Shoulders were a bit sore this morning.

17.01.2022 Picking mangoes so mum can make mango chutney.

17.01.2022 Wow . . . What are stunning sunset to show off our new poly tunnels. These are to protect our White Sage plants in a frost prone area of the farm. We designed and built these in 3 days as we were expecting frost this morning and tomorrow morning.

16.01.2022 When you get out of your paddock and into the weeds . . .

15.01.2022 It's Spring! Time to top dress the Prairie Sage beds with organic compost. Our Prairie Sage stops growing through winter, but it will start to really take off with this compost and the warmer weather. We love this Scotts Australia Pure Organic compost.

15.01.2022 Yep, that will be the problem. I've been having trouble with the irrigation pump for a while. We've tried quite a few things to fix it. Because I haven't needed to water much over the past few months, I was always able to get just enough water to keep the sage happy. But today it wasn't going to pump at all. The spark plug was my last resort. I probably should have thought of this first. Running beautifully now. The white sage is very happy

12.01.2022 Frost this morning. New mini hoop houses working well.

11.01.2022 A huge effort from these 2 young men over the past few days. Jacob and Owen have been helping out over the school holidays. 1 job was to hand weed a large area and plant 21 new Lavender plants. I’m so happy to have this job done. Awesome effort guys.

11.01.2022 The calves enjoyed the little shower of rain we had yesterday.

10.01.2022 Redoing our Prairie Sage beds. We built these beds last year, but the soil we used turned out to be terrible and nothing grew. We are digging all the soil out, replacing the soil and replanting the Prairie Sage. 1 down, 7 more beds to go.

09.01.2022 I'm so glad we put the covers over this area of White Sage yesterday afternoon. 73mm of rain over night. Great for the rest of the farm, but not good for the White Sage.

08.01.2022 Jacob with his favourite goat. Harry is very cuddly now that he has his winter coat.

08.01.2022 Lots of watering on hot days like this.

06.01.2022 Another couple choosing to have their wedding photos done on our farm.

05.01.2022 Laying landscaping fabric and grass mulch to stop the weeds in the White Sage rows. This has been a huge job.

04.01.2022 Today is a special day for the Draper Family. Exactly 150 years ago Jacob Draper selected 120 acres on the outskirts of Samford as part of a Homestead Selection scheme. Part of the conditions of Homestead Selection was Jacob had to build a house, reside there and make improvements to the land such as fences and cultivation. Jacob arrived in Australia in 1861. He was an assisted immigrant. Assisted passages were granted by the Government to particular categories of immigrants... and their families, which were from time to time required in Queensland. The categories include farmers, farm labourers, labourers. To be eligible they had to be unable to pay the full passage, they could not have resided previously in any Australian colony, and they must intend to reside permanently in Queensland. We are still farming on part of the original land. This photo shows Jacob’s daughter Annie and son Thomas (both in the background) and neighbour Bill Leitch in the foreground with Jacob. It was taken around 1910.

03.01.2022 2 years ago we dug a trench to cut the fig tree roots as they were affecting the White Sage plants. We’ve now had to do it again as the roots had grown back. This time we’ve laid plastic in the trench to try and slow the roots down a bit more.

02.01.2022 The cows have got plenty of grass now.
