23.01.2022 s s This glamorous patient was seeking a whiter brighter smile, to match her bright personality (check out that bling in her gold crown ) ... There were a few things happening with her smile grey/brown discolouration - tetracycline staining (staining the tooth from antibiotic use as a child) large fillings that were different colours on front teeth wear and tear and shortening of the canine teeth What we did to improve her smile 6 premium porcelain veneers and crowns These beautiful restorations were made in WA by Tom @creationsdental (he also loves his work ). They look so natural and are precisely fit to the patients teeth This is crucial! A precise fit ensures there is no overhanging bits to irritate and inflame your gums. Low quality, rushed cosmetic work will leave your gums red, swollen and bleedy (no thank you). A poor fit also increases the chance your tooth will get decay (go rotten) underneath Its also super important to make sure the crowns/veneers are the right shape, so that the bite is comfortable and the porcelain and teeth dont bang into each other damage each other To achieve this usually requires a good plan before any drill or porcelain go anywhere near your teeth! We took the unique parts of our patients beautiful smile (including the ever so slight angle theyre on) and enhanced them! She still looks like her, just refreshed and younger ! ****If youre wondering what the difference between a crown and a veneer is, the main difference is that a veneer is more conservative. That means less of your tooth gets adjusted to make space for the porcelain. Sometimes a crown is best for your tooth if it already has lots of fillings. Stay tuned! 22.01.2022 Natural Veneers This dazzling woman has the most beautiful smile, but her two front teeth were letting her smile down! They were chipped, dull, and yellow. You would never guess that this damage was caused by scrubbing her teeth with gumption when she was younger to try and get them whiter !!! What we did to fix them:... 2 premium porcelain veneers of her two front teeth Veneers in the case were very conservative - which means her teeth were not cut very much at all. We were able to do this type of veneer because she had already scrubbed most of her enamel off with the gumption! 22.01.2022 Teeth brushing should be fun! Here are some tips to make brushing your kids teeth stress free: Brush as a family! Brush your teeth in front of your kids so they see it as a normal part of the daily routine. Then get them brushing at the same time as you... Make it fun! Brush to a song / video, let them brush your teeth, hum tunes, relax! Try brushing during bath time Try different flavoured tooth pastes - sometimes kids dont like the taste! Its best to start off with no toothpaste and get used to the brush in their mouth first Use an electric brush - theyre a lot more effective, especially if your child wants to be in charge of brushing their own teeth but havent quite mastered the fine motor skills required. Better yet, let them choose their toothbrush! If they want to brush first, you brush afterwards (until about age 8, or when they can tie their own shoe laces). Standing behind is the easiest position If you have a baby, you can start cleaning their teeth with a wet flannel when their teeth come through the gum. This will help get the baby used to brushing later on Use a rewards chart. This can be a great motivator! My dad did enrol in dentistry, but pulled out because he had a bad experience with a frog that was supposed to be dead, but wasnt (understandable). So why then? And l was ashamed to smile When I was 11 I was lucky enough to have my teeth straightened by some very clever orthodontists (specialist dentists). That for me was life changing! I had 4 teeth removed. The positive experience surrounding my own smile transformation is what ignited my interest in dentistry So I get it! I understand what it feels like to want a better smile.
