11.01.2022 Four confirmed cases of #MEASLES The Metro South Public Health Unit has confirmed four cases of measles in the Metro South area during the last three we...eks. Public Health Physician Dr Kari Jarvinen said it was important for Metro South residents to be vaccinated, if they weren’t already. Local drop-in clinics are offering free vaccinations from Thursday 5 April to Saturday 14 April in Jimboomba, Marsden, Crestmead, Browns Plains and Logan. Residents will be able to call 13HEALTH for clinic locations. Residents in the Brisbane southside and Logan areas in particular need to be alert for the initial symptoms of measles which include: fever, lethargy, runny nose, moist cough and sore and red eyes. This is followed a few days later by a blotchy, red rash which often starts on the face and then becomes widespread over the body. Contact your GP if you have been in these areas and have any of these symptoms - it is VERY important to call the medical practice first if you think you might have measles, so that staff can take precautions to avoid you spreading it to others.
